Good quality mp3 player
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this mp3 player because I owned a Sony before. The reason I bought the other one was because it had built in speakers. This one didn't, that's the only down side. Other than that it performs just as well as Sony products. This is good if you just need an mp3 player just to play music. The plus is that it plays videos. I like the design of this one.

Why is Sony not answering the 1-2 star reviews?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK, I bought this player from BB, but I should have read the reviews first. What bugs me most is how Sony does not answer reviews with less than 3 stars. They sure have time to answer the complimentary reviews! I'll be really surprised to see if my review gets posted too. I had the 8G player from two generations back, and it died after 3 months of use (WSOD). My 4G is still going strong after 7 years. This is generally my experience with Sony. 1 out of 3 products usually die right outside the warranty period. And I have owned their DATs, MD recorders, microphones, etc., so I have had more than a few of their toys. Buyer beware!

Great alternative to an iPod!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the 3rd Sony Walkman MP3 player that I've purchased in the last 7 years. The only reason for replacement is because they were lost. Each 1 was given as a gift to someone not so tech savvy & these Sony MP3's are easy & loaded with great features!

Doesn't quite match quality of previous Sony mp3
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my old Sony mp3 player. I still have it. I bought this one to have more storage (16gb, up from my old 8gb). The buttons are clumsy as heck. 1) To start playing music you have to push two buttons (Power/Hold, then Play/Pause). To turn it off takes two buttons (Play/Pause, then Power/Hold). My old one required pressing one button to start (Play) and turn it off (Power). 2) Volume is controlled by an up/down arrows on the front vs a separate volume button on the side. It's not as easy to adjust volume with the player in your pocket. Fewer options on the Music settings. No option on what you want to see on the screen regarding CD info. Fewer sound options. Screen size is so small compared to my older Sony mp3 player. I would recommend this item to a friend. I just think they might be disappointed if they are replacing it from an older Sony.

Don't ever get a open box deal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this item several months ago; didn't have instructions on use. figured out how to work it on my own. Pictures never come up on it even though showed them in there. Starting a week ago freezing up on songs then beeped. Reset with toothpick, played a couple of songs & quit again. Figured it had a warranty.. No such luck !!! Called to have replaced, Said I'd have to call Sony ... Such an expensive item for an open box and no warranty. This was also bought from Best Buy online & not a marketplace item. Better get a new one and not bother with this kind of sale !!!!!

Good Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this player to store songs on to play in my new 2014 Jeep Cherokee as there is no CD player. I like that I can play it over the USB cable or an AUX cable. It is a little difficult navigating around the device but it isn't that bad. Songs are loaded easily via computer. Sound quality over the vehicles speakers is excellent. Overall for the price I think it is a good deal.

Best MP3 Player I've had.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced an iPod Classic with this mp3 player. It's the easiest player I've had. It quickly installed on my laptop, instructions were easy to follow and when Music Go installed it automatically sync my entire library. All of my music made the transfer. When I chose the cd albums that I wanted to put on the walkman it was so easy and so fast! Most albums were downloaded in 2 - 4 seconds. After ejecting the player I was able to scroll through the music and pick what I wanted to listen to. This is a great product for a great price. Very happy.

Great mp3 player
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice, slim device. I use this on my tips and outings rather than my phone because it's smaller and the long battery life. I've bought 3 of these players (2 were gifts) and no complaints about any of them. The video feature is a nice touch but with the screen being pretty small it's not an ideal video viewer. The one thing I would change is the power on button because it can easily be turned on accidentally. It has been improved since the older models, but it could still use a change.

It's 'ok'.....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nothing special. The other mp3 player Best Buy carries has better memory with the memory card installed. An option the Sony doesn't have. As a matter of fact there are a number of options the walkman doesn't have that the other Mp3 player does have. And it's less expensive. I own both. I'm not buying another walkman.

Works as it should so far, but..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Alright, so I got it today, and after some initial difficulty (couldn't get it to turn on..had to reset it to get it to turn on..works well if you have like a safety pin or something to poke into the hole after its been fully charged) I was able to download/ drag and drop several songs on it and it played them easily. So far it works well..will probably post again in the future if anything changes. Good sound on the speakers..can play REALLY loud..I listen to it on volume 1-4. Also..might be worth mentioning that I got mine as an open-box deal.

Walkman
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony quality. Bugged me spending this much. But have it eight years now, using it nearly every morning and in my vehicles before I had Bluetooth stereos. So well worth it.

Clumsy, cheaply made
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this unit to replace a similar one that I lost. However, Sony made it much cheaper, and more difficult to run. Biggest problem was the play and stop buttons didn't do what they were suppose to. Returned the next day. I would have rather spent the extra money to get a like for like replacement, than save $20 on this.

Not worth the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to get away from buying another Apple product, as I figured there might be better options out there. I decided to get this Walkman since I found some decent reviews online. There's some minor functionality items I would change, like how to turn off the device, how to put it on hold, etc. All minor that didn't seem like deal breakers. However, after a short time of use, with the device loaded with ~3,000 songs, I've encountered a deal breaker. The device will shut itself off after 1 or 2 songs have been played. At first, I thought it was just because I had all the songs on shuffle. But many tries at adjusting how I listen to music (one album at a time; one artist at a time; playing straight through as opposed to shuffle, etc.) has not helped. It will constantly shut itself off, and take 2 or so minutes to restart. Extremely disappointing.

Good sound but bad display/controls
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third sony walkman and I have always been impressed with the sound quality and equalizer features. My first two walkmans (E344s) had a larger display, clearer text and separate controls for the volume and the "hold" feature. With the newer 380 series, however, the volume and "hold" feature are integrated with the buttons on the front, which leads to my lower rating. I use this mp3 player in my car and I have to pause the music frequently. Unlike the old players which would put the player in standby mode after a minute of nonuse, this new player puts itself in the "hold" mode, forcing you to press and hold the Options button for several seconds to re-activate the player. This is quite annoying and utterly ridiculous. It seems that the player has undergone a degrade from the previous versions. This probably will be my last Sony Walkman unless this illogical redesign has been fixed.

Posted .Hello astroguy!, Thank you for sharing your experience with us, we will forward this information to the proper department for review. When the unit is set in pause, if there is no operation for about 3 minutes, your Walkman automatically enters the standby mode, and the display turns off to save battery power, unfortunately in order to use it again it is necessary to press and hold the OPTION/PWR/HOLD , if it is pressed and held while in any other state than in pause mode all operation buttons are disabled and it enters the HOLD function due to the design.~ Jeannette

I luv it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I 1st bought the product I was little iffy about it at 1st, but I'm glad I purchased it. Everything about it is great, I use it everyday. However the headphones were made in a distinct way, they went out after about 6 months of me buying them, and I haven't found the same exact ones yet, can someone help me......?
