This series does not download WMA/DRM files
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me say that I have owned 2 previous Walkmans (or is it men?), and find them the best MP3 player on the market until recently. I went to best buy and purchased this for audio books (yes, I am a nerd) NWZ E385 (the 16 GB model) E384 and 383 are the 8 and 4 GB models). Anyway upon getting home and ready to download it worked just like my previous ones had in regards to books in mp3 formating. However It will lot allow you to download WMA files that are DRM (Digetal Media Rights) protected. With previous models you could bypass and download directly from overdrive to windows media player and then to the device...however even this side road fails with 380 series. I am not sure that any WMA files exist that are not DRM protected...so ules you are restricting yourself to MP3 files only...you should find another series of the walkman or another mp3 company all together. I still like the walkman and am searchig for a series that does work w/ WMA, so don't think I am bashing the company...just this series in particular! Other series to avoid: (NWZ 360 series, 470 series, 570 series, F800 series, W270 series and z1040/50 & 60 models# This is the list that sony tech support gave me of models that wil not fuction with WMA #even thogh the box states otherwise!)

I've had better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. locked up my computer for several minutes when trying to install the software even though I had the correct specifications 2. spent a couple hours deleting songs b/c it copied entire CD’s twice 3. Information [song/album/artist] for songs shows up on the media player and when I hook the mp3 player to my computer and click on it in the media player but not on the actual player. it says that the artist is “unknown” when I play it at work 4. keeps going to “hold” when I pause it for more than a minute 5. sometimes when turn it on it shows that it is playing but there is no sound. I have to turn it completely off and then back on again. 6. the player merges the track number into the title so I’m unable to find a specific song b/c there are 100 songs that were track 2 on their CD and another 50 w/ that were track 7, 12, 4, etc. etc.

Not Compatible with Audible

Contact with Audible and Sony did not resolve the issue. I returned the Walkman to the store for a refund.

Too sensitive to cold weather
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even when it is 60 degrees, the walkman will die at least 3 times in a two hour period. You can restart it but that takes several minutes. I problem when you are riding a bicycle. The battery is still charged and there are no error messages.

Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought one in store. The 2nd time I charged it, it died. Took it back to BB. Exchanged for another. It lasted 2 weeks and died. Have an 8g Walkman from years ago, still works. Sony is done.
