I Bought to use outside. Haven't used it much so far because of cold weather. Nice sound. So I didn't give it 5 stars until I use it more.

Several weeks ago I decided I needed to get into the Blue Tooth age and maximize my Iphone and Ipad technologies. After much research I opted for a JBL Charge 2+. It looks great, got great reviews and has excellent bass but I didn't hear what I wanted out of the mid-range so I returned it the next day. I started researching again and ran into reviews about this Sony SRSX55. Today I purchased the item and the reviews were accurate. It certainly isn't going to win any beauty contest but I wanted good sound reproduction from a portable BT speaker that would enhance my musical enjoyment primarily in my sunroom without having to run wires and electrical cords. The fact that my cd player can be easily connected via a mini stereo plug to RCA cable also allows me to listen to my many CDs. I am not sorry with my selection and this one is staying.

After reading numerous reviews of wireless Bluetooth speakers, I went to my local Best Buy store to purchase the slightly smaller and less expensive SRSX33. However, the SRSX33 lacked the depth and rich sound I was seeking. However, after comparing the slightly larger SRSX55 with the Bose Spundlink Mini II and the JBL Charge 2, I decided to purchase the Sony SRSX55 because of its relatively full, three dimensional sound and competitive price. I've now listened to it for several hours without ever experiencing listener fatigue. In short, if you're looking for a high quality sound at a competitive price, I know of no better bluetooth speaker in this price range than the Sony SRSX55. Highly recommended!

It not loud enough but it work great and very convenient .

This is not HIFI speaker, however, for the price they have very good sound for background music. They also sound pretty good at louder volumes, however, these speakers are not meant to be used that way. I like the sound, it is easy to carry and it was a fair price. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good sounding portable bluetooth speaker.

I got the Bose SoundLink Color, which produces a horrible sound, and exchanged it for the SONY. The reviews were right, what a difference. Is heavy, well built and sounds really good. For this price segment is definitely the top contender. I am VERY happy with this product. Clarity in Mid and Hight frequencies is excellent. Bass could be a bit better, but again for this price range the Sony wins. User friendly and beautiful design. The only CON is that the unit was design to keep indoors, it is elegant and I would hate to take it camping or to a place where it could get Dinged or Scratched. I really like it.

This speaker really sounds good straight out of the box. The speaker for me was easy to use straight out of the box with out having to read the directions. Charged it fully first for about 2 hours before using it. Just hit the power button, hold the bluetooth button on the speaker and then use your phone to connect it. I also tried it with the NFC connection option without having to download any additional apps and it works straight out of the box. Just hold the phone near the speaker and it'll detect it. Speaker plays quite loudly while I was listening to it while detailing my car and it fills the garage beautifully.

This portable speaker has an unbelievable sound but alas, I am used to stereo separation in my music... I have come across the perfect solution and the sound is simply breathtaking... Buy this SONY SRSX55 AND the Best Buy "Insignia" USB powered stereo speakers ($14.99). The Sony has a USB power out on the back so plug in the Insignia USB end there. Now buy a male to two female stereo splitter cable (about $5.00) and plug in the Sony to one end and the Insignia to the other. WOW! Bang! You now have full stereo sound with amazing clarity and bold bass...

This speaker is superb. Needed to replace the recalled beats pillxl which I loved. This out performs those at twice the price.
