Junk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very surprised, used this thing a few times out by my pool and while grilling. Now the speaker is completely blown, sound quality went straight down the tubes. The speaker was never abused, never maxed out the volume, no excuse for this to happen. Very disappointed in Sony. Junk!

Great Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound is excellent. There is plenty of bass and plenty of volume for my small living room. Easy to pair and easy to charge. This is exactly what I was looking for. It was also shipped very promptly. Five stars.

Excellent, With Some Caveats
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can agree with many of the other contributors' reviews of this speaker, and I would summarize the SRS-X33 as "being excellent for what it is"; for me, this means it's an excellent speaker for travel, personal listening, and smaller environments. During a recent trip, I realized that I really missed my bedside speaker at home, the superb Sony SRS-X55, that lulls me to sleep every night playing ambient, ethereal music; though the X55 is a portable speaker, it's a bit too bulky and heavy to tote around in a carry-on. I decided to purchase a "cheapie" speaker that would easily fit into my bag and that I wouldn't fret over if it were lost. I went to a Best Buy in the town I was visiting and purchased the Insignia NS-CSPBTHOL-BK, which I returned (sound was too tinny) for the larger Insignia NS-SPBTBRICK-C (somewhat better, but still tinny), which I kept until I returned home. I knew we had another trip lined up in the coming months, so I decided to look for something a little more substantial; I ended up ordering the SRS-X33 from BB.com, as it was on sale (not available in store, though). The small Sony is of understated, conservative design and is well constructed; its small size somewhat belies its solid build. As many other reviewers have mentioned, the overall sound is excellent. On the whole, the X33 delivers crisp highs, robust mids, and good bass. Using the "Sound" function increases the stereo separation dramatically, resulting in an amazingly wide soundstage; instruments seem to come from areas well beyond the X33's small footprint. I listen to a wide variety of music, and the X33 handles most genres quite well. Classical, vocal, ambient, chill, classic rock, etc. all sound terrific, with amazing detail and clarity that I never would have thought possible in a speaker less than half the size of the X55. Hip-hop, EDM, etc. may present some challenges for the speaker, however - see caveat #2 below. Caveat #1: While I do find the X33's overall sound to be superb, I must point out that its quality does diminish at increased volume. Sound quality is rich and detailed up to approximately 50-60% of its maximum output; increased volume results in increasingly aggressive dynamic compression and a subsequent loss of both the high and low ends. In fairness, however, many small speakers suffer from this limitation as well. Caveat #2: Some bass-heavy tracks, even at moderate volumes, may overtax the speaker's ability to reproduce those frequencies and introduce low-end distortion, but I found that this is remedied, for the most part, by the use of equalization. I personally use PowerAmp's music player on my mobile devices, and I created an EQ profile for the X33 that reduces bass emphasis and slightly trims back the treble as well, making for an overall "flatter", but still full, output from the speaker. After a couple of weeks of listening to this speaker, I did start to have some doubts about whether I wanted to exchange it for something else, something "better"...and this is where I realized that in order to figure out what "better" was, I first needed to figure what I actually wanted. After visiting a local Best Buy store and listening to several potential replacements, I realized that in my quest, I had forgotten my main concern was portability - this was to be a travel speaker with better sound quality than the cheaper Insignias (and the like) I'd already tried. I already own the X55, which has awesome sound quality, but I didn't want to lug it around. None of the other speakers I auditioned in the BB store had sound quality even close to the X33; most sounded "boxy" and flat. A couple of others, including the newer Sony SRS-XB3, had much stronger bass output, but on both, the result was muddy mids and highs. Though the SRS-X33 can produce a loud, quality sound, if you're in the market for a portable speaker that "thump-thumps" out tunes for a crowded party, a la boombox, I would say listen to one in a store first and perhaps keep looking. After my store visit, however, I ultimately realized that I already had what I wanted all along: a very portable speaker that reproduces excellent sound quality at personal to moderate listening levels - for me, the Sony SRS-X33 is a keeper.

I can´t charge it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I had used it 2nd times I could not charge it. The worst part is that, the sony guarantee does not apply in my country. They said I will go to the USA, that is so ridiculous.

best sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been searching for a blutooth speaker that has an amazing sound without spending a fortune. I tried several of the Bose but I kept hearing a skipping sound when listening to music. This Sony is outstanding. I went into the store to listen to other blutooth speakers from Bose to UE to JBL and I demoed every single speaker on display, and to my surprise this one outshined all of them. Lots of bass and crisp highs also NFC hook up easy and guess what.? No skipping on my music I am so thrilled and happy with this product I would definately recommend to anyone. I have already done the research for you now go buy this while it is on sale for $99 a bargain. Love it!!!

Great sound in a small package!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker rocks! For the size, I was thinking about this or the Bose Sound Link Mini II and for the price, I am VERY happy with it. The Sony SRS line-up is a great bang-for-the-buck system compared to other higher-end systems.

Clear and rich sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Clear and rich sound! Like it very much. Bose has a little bit deeper base sound. but it's 70 dollars cheaper than bose. Easy to pair with devices using bluetooth.

Great speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tested a lot of speakers in the store and chose this one over all of the other speakers in this price range because it sounded the best. For its size it sounds great. Of course if you go to the next price level they sound even better but for the $100 range this one was the best. Keep the volume in the mid level, anything in the highs distorts the sound quality. Also has nice range and supports NFC which is nice if you have multiple phones using it. All in all great purchase!

Excellent Sound..Poor battery
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Might just be the one I got, but the battery life is sub par. I will fully charge it, unplug it to take it out on the pool deck and 30 mins in the sound well lower itself. I do tend to use the SOUND option it has which increases the audio, but either way I do not believe that it should run out of battery that quick. The range is excellent as I can walk all around my house (2000sqft) and it will still keep playing on the speaker which is sitting in the middle of the house. Also I do not like that you cannot charge and play music at the same time. Other than battery life, it is a loud speaker with excellent range, but would not really recommend

Outstanding product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sony Bluetooth portable speaker is awesome. It easily connects to all my Bluetooth devices. The sound is powerful and clear. I move it from room to room. I just started using it as a white noise machine to sleep better. I downloaded a free white noise app and use this speaker. Battery stays strong all night. Another excellent product from Sony.

Fantastic! but...where can I buy a case for it?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just picked up this little gem today and am incredibly happy with its performance (so far after my initial test). The sound enhancement button is a really nice touch and makes a ton of difference.. I am concerned that I can't find nor purchase the advertised case for it anywhere ---> CKS-X33 (advertised on the back of the box). Called Sony and they acted as if its not even available in the US? Until then, purchasers have no options to safely protect and store their new speaker. Overall, for the price point, I am happy with what I have purchased. Just wish I had a case for it and that iPhone would introduce NFC pairing compatibility.
