Letter Carrier's best option.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a Letter Carrier and needed to find a new small digital pocket radio because the last one was garbage and went through AA batteries too quickly. I was just browsing at Best Buy and found this one, tried it, and this is the best pocket digital radio that has yet been made! I wear it daily in my chest pocket. It routinely get's jostled, bumped, and sweat/rained on, in all four of Wisconsin's harsh seasons. This durable radio handles it all. I wear it for at least 6 hours per day five days a week and 1 little AAA battery lasts around two weeks. The battery notification display is extremely convenient! I predominantly listen to AM talk radio and the reception is crystal clear, despite my using different sport headphones. My absolute favorite part about this radio is when you change the battery it still saves the preset stations! Brilliant! If I could change one thing I'd make it smaller by getting rid of the clock. Unfortunately there's no way to turn it off (it's ALWAYS on if there's a battery in the compartment) - I wonder how much longer the radio would run without the clock? I can't really complain though since the single AAA already lasts so long. Pants pocket, shirt pocket, strap it to your arm... I recommend this radio for anyone who listens while playing sports. It's simple features, durability and longevity far surpass any other small radio.

You get what you pay for?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality was nil and really it was difficult to home in on any radio station. I bought this for a friend in VA hospice care so he could have music, and sadly, it did not bring him music.

Posted .Hi dducky, To improve the reception, you may extend the headphones cord which functions as the Weather/FM antenna. Try rotating the unit horizontally for optimum reception. A ferrite bar antenna is built-in the unit for AM reception. «Jerome

SONY SRF-M37W WALKMAN REVIEW
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony SRF-M37W Walkman portable radio is the best travel companion that I can think of. Once again, Sony has demonstrated its technical prowess, dominance, and mastery of the portable audio product category. This Sony portable radio features excellent sensitivity and selectivity with respect to its broadcast FM/WB/AM reception capabilities. I feel lucky and fortunate to own it. This Sony Walkman radio is a small and lightweight unit that fits with ease in the palm of your hand, on your belt with supplied clip, or your shirt pocket. It is just comforting to notice the solid feel and sturdy build quality of this resilient Sony Walkman portable radio. This Sony Walkman is a go anywhere radio that performs well under adverse conditions including a very hot and humid summer day or a minor rainy weather event. When I am at the beach, or walking in my local park, or taking a stroll on the boardwalk, I can pick up my local weather band station with a slight tap of a direct preset button to get an instant forecast the moment I see some clouds begin to populate the horizon and accompanying skyline. Weather band reception enables me to plan the immediate future of my outing accurately and immediately with the latest meteorological forecast at any time. The supplied headphones fit nicely over the ears for fatigue-free listening for hours on end. The supplied open air headphones incorporate the system’s FM and Weather Band antenna. The FM stereo reception of my favorite music stations sound marvelous with near concert quality audio reproduction. Radio reception, in my experience, with this portable offers no static and drift-free reception performance. I don’t have to worry about an accidental station change or button press wherever I use my Sony Walkman, when I enable the unit’s hold feature. AM band listening is a pleasure. I can never get enough sports information. Whether it’s the latest score, trade rumor, analysis of tonight’s game, or general sports gossip, this Sony SRF-M37W Walkman portable radio is always there to fulfill my interests. Talk radio programs and news broadcasts come in with great clarity and are easy to locate with the station preset feature. The battery life is seemingly endless. The Sony SRF-M37W portable radio requires one AAA battery that has never been consumed while in my possession. This amazing battery life longevity is wonderful because the radio’s operating costs are almost non-existent. I recommend a Duracell Ultra or Energizer Max AAA alkaline battery for maximum audio performance and battery life of this Sony radio. This Sony SRF-M37W Walkman has every feature that any radio or outdoor enthusiast could ask for. Those high quality features include: FM, AM, Channel 1-7 Weather Band reception, headphone cord FM/WB antenna, built-in AM antenna, direct weather button, digital tuner, FM local/distance switch, 20 station presets, LCD display, digital clock function, hold, band, power, time set/tuning seek buttons, 5 direct key preset memory buttons, battery life indicator, 3.5 mm headphone output jack, volume control, belt clip, operating instructions, and the portable radio also includes stereo headphones. With its accurate reception, powerful stereo sound, simple operation, weather band reception, and convenient multiple preset station settings, this Sony SRF-M37W Walkman is an outstanding performer for your own personal mobile audio requirements. It is my opinion, that this Sony Walkman does not demonstrate any flaws in ergonomic design, broadcast reception, or sound reproduction. You can’t do better than a Sony product for any occasion that requires portable audio. I am delighted to give this Sony SRF-M37W Walkman portable radio my highest recommendation. Good Luck. Enjoy.

Good little radio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great little radio and very durable. I've had mine for 5 years or so and it's still going strong in spite of being dropped plenty of times. Lasts amazingly long on one measly AAA battery. This is the ONLY pocket size radio I've found that can pickup 1500 am in the Twin CIties so I can listen to Twins baseball while I walk. Has a locking feature so buttons aren't depressed accidentally but I wish it had volume control via buttons rather than the wheel. That;s the only thing I'd change about it.

Good FM sensitivity/selectivity, stereo separation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned and used this unit extensively for 6 months now, mostly in the FM Stereo mode. One alkaline AAA Battery lasts at least a week (usually more) despite extended everyday listening. (Could probably get a full month with AAA Lithium). When replacing the battery, the clock and presets remain saved. I especially appreciate the Lock feature which prevents accidental turn-on/off and accidental station change while I am working. When traveling between Houston and Austin I can always pick up numerous FM stations, and even going out west to New Mexico recently I was always able to pick up multiple stations for the entire round trip. I use it mostly in DX mode, but the Local mode is handy if you are near an antenna farm; I have not yet tested its strong-signal-overload tolerance, but knowing Sony's history with FM MPX portable reception quality, it is likely good. The unit maintains full stereo separation on all but the weakest of FM signals, which is a priority for me. I can tolerate a little noise in a weak signal area, but I can't stand mono. (I hate receivers with mono auto-blend.) The belt clip is very functional and very durable, and it is removable if I were to decide to mount the unit to a bike bracket. The front and side panels have coincident clearances so as to allow for a horizontal mounting strap across the front. The headphone jack has kept its strong grip despite heavy outdoor use, never giving me an intermittent connection. If I were to change anything, it would be to add an icon to the display to confirm when an FM station has its stereo multiplexer turned on. Also, I would move the weather band selector button to another location; sometimes I accidentally hit it, and then I have to re-select the band that I was intending. And a button-triggerable backlight for the display would be handy. Keep up the good work Sony !

Powerful and durable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to use on my motorcycle , and I keep it in the map pocket on top (100+ miles a day so traffic info is very important). Unit is very durable, and buttons are large enough that I can easily use them wearing my gloves through the map window. Signal selectivity is AWESOME and can pull in signals over 50 miles away depending on terrain. Battery life is very good, and the memory stays even when changing batteries. You get 2 FM, 1 AM, and Weather bands (I wish I CT transmitted Weather :/ ) so there are plenty of preset stations. My only wish is the radio had adjustable EQ to compensate for my helmet speakers, and a scanning feature when driving in new areas so I don't have to look down so much when searching for new stations. I am totally pleased with this rugged little radio!!

Great performer, great value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am extremely pleased with Sony's SRF-M37W which I purchased 4 weeks ago and it has my recommendation. (I replaced the Sony AM-FM Headphones with antenna after 15 years and enjoy better reception.) I use it primarily at work inside a building that blocks reception and with Sony MDR-NC7 noise cancelling headphones which are effective (the Walkman's sound a little better). I work the rest of my shift out of doors in my mail truck playing it through the auxiliary input of a boom box (better tuner). I use it personally for a few hours Sunday afternoons. No issues, No Cons. Battery life is Excellent experiencing over 100 hrs avg for one AAA FUJI environmental's! Extremely energy efficient. Sound quality Excellent; good preset EQ delivers nice balance of bass and treble, through well complementing, comfortable, open air headphones. Low S/N and distortion (except a little is noticeable at highest volume). Not at all boomie but may be a little bassie sounding due to some AM talk shows engineers settings. FM Reception is excellent locally and good sensitivity to listen to stations 70 miles away. However weaker stations may be over-ridden by some strong local stations' harmonic frequencies. Excellent Selectivity. Local/Distant switch a nice feature. Weather Band reception is good at 60 miles (DX setting) but raising the headphone/antenna wire vertically 15 inches improves it. Volume is much lower on WB. AM reception excellent on stronger local stations and naturally fair on weaker ones. I receive distant stations in Jacksonville, Miami and Tampa clearly if even weak from the Orlando area, although I usually need to orient direction of the Walkman for best reception, less noise and static which is virtually nil. As good/better as my car radio. Great for listening to the Buc's, Jags and Dolphins when they play (talk about) each other. The digital tuning displays unused even digit frequencies on FM (it's not HD), a mere inconvenience in the up/down wrap tuning. The Hold switch locks all function keys including Power (avoids accidental battery drain). A "key" icon is displayed and red switch view. During battery change, time and station presets saved. Nice. Time is displayed when radio is off. Display is lcd, very clear in direct sunlight or indoors but not backlit. Belt clip is tight and sturdy. Battery compartment cover is secure. Very sturdy case. 42" headphones cord adds versatility. Excellent quality. Excellent value. Exceptional purchase. ;)

Works very well!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using a "Sony Walkman" radio. Very old. When it got to the point that I could no longer use it, I bought this unit. Most of the time I use the radio in conjunction with my noise-cancelling headphones while mowing the yard. I get good reception and very little static no matter which way I walk, something that was not true with the old setup. I can't speak about battery life, because I haven't had it long enough, but so far it has been worth the price.

This is a great radio.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This radio is waaay cool I have had this radio for nearly 10 years or more now and it has never failed me. In this age of ipods and androids (which I prefer btw) this radio is some backup sounds when all others fail. I don't understand this fairly new trend of not owning a radio at all. To me it's kind of silly, this radio is a perfect thing to have if you're up against your limit on your data streaming or if you have no internet access to stream from. This device gives you UNLIMITED streaming of music talk and lots of other stuff, internet or not!! My only difficulty is with the price, it's a little high although the sound quality is darn good.

Great product!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used this at work and at the gym it had really good reception... I mean I'm in a metal building moving it around I would expect it to be less than perfect. Setting the presets was equal to setting one in a car, just push the button and hold when you find the station you like. The AM stations didn't come in but they hardly come in with a radio with an antenna either... but they were fine once I got closer to the windows/or outside. The FM stations were fantastic except for the low frequencies which are hard to get with most portable FM tuners. Overall don't expect a product to do something that it can't... metal buildings block radio frequencies, especially AM frequencies. Overall If you're looking for a no-frills easy to use AM/FM radio then this is a great investment.
