Not what I was looking for. I had an Olympus for a few years and it did the job but this Sony is far too primitive to be functional for my needs

She's starting to forget things so having this to record important conversations, like with her doctor, is helpful. The settings are pretty straight forward and once I had it set up for her, she's had no problems using it. If you want to record a phone conversation with it, put the phone on speaker or hold the recorder to the ear piece. Otherwise, it picks up sound very well.

I bought it the day before filming and have never used a digital recorder before...I was easily able to grasp the functionality of the recorder. The quality of sound is clear and it has various sensitivity settings for recording. I used an external mic in filming and I recommend against using the "auto" sensitivity function as the manual settings work best for obtaining the best sound isolation possible. The "auto" setting picked up a lot of background hiss (air conditioning, room echo, outdoors noise, etc.).

The next night, I listened to the lecture I recorded and the playback is amazing! It also has two options for clear voice. The recording is phenomenal and so is the built in USB. The built in USB saves my life and also space. It's very convenient! I am very impressed with sony's creation. Recommended this to a friend of mine who also experienced the clearance of the voice from the recordings!
