Chose these over the more expensive RS5's
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Look nice with a much smaller footprint and design style that matches the HT7000a (metal mesh grill) unlike the RS5's (round w/ cloth front). These also held a better wireless connection and sounded great despite lacking the extra wattage and upfiring speakers. Didn't need the rechargeable battery and RS3's use regular power cords into the wall rather than the RS5's which have a substantially larger brick plug. Sound quality differences between the two were minimal despite many reviews out there saying the RS5's are substantially better...keep in mind that both really only output surround material in movies and shows occasionally, pretty useless for music and other use cases given limited EQ options on the Sony soundbars (no option of all channel stereo, for example).

To ensure sound is being output from both the speaker system and the optional rear speakers, press the IMMERSIVE AE to turn on the Immersive Audio Enhancement function, the speaker system upmixes audio signals, and sound is output from all speakers.
Note: The Rear speaker plays surround sound as part of the multi-channel sound or processed from the 2-channel sound. However, because of the characteristics of the rear speaker, the sound may be low depending on the playback source.

The setting was interesting - the speakers need to be in view of the bar - I have them on the floor on the side of the couch - so if I loose connection I need to put them on the couch for the setup duration.

Had I understood that these speakers do not put out sound during all times (being geared for surround content and content looking to use such rear speakers), I might not have wanted to pay so much for speakers that (seemingly) are hardly heard from. For this reason alone, I feel that the cost is too high. I have enjoyed when these speakers output sound and allowed too much time to pass to return them. Certainly, it is very easy to link/sync these speakers with the sound bar. No one should fear linking them; unless using mixed products.

Subtle, but game changing.

Until I got the rear speakers I was not getting the full surround sound experience. Now I am and I’ll never go back. The speakers are subtle. They don’t repeat the full audio like some surround systems do. Only certain affects or instruments come through. Which is odd at first, but awesome once you get used to. It takes video games to the next level. Because the speakers aren’t overly active sometimes you forget they’re there, then BOOM, grenade blows up behind you and leap up into the air. These are a must have if you’ve already invested in such a quality sound bar.

Don't feel like you HAVE to buy the RS5, but if it is in the budget, get the RS5. You'll thank me later. If the A7000 soundbar was only $300 more expensive than the A5000, I definitely would be rocking these speakers and the A7000. These rear speakers for me is a must. It just gives a much better listening experience. I definitely knew I was sticking with either these or the RS5 once I hooked up the RS3.
