It's all about that BASS
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When pairing the HT-A9 Soundbar with the HT-A5000 Sounder you will experience a home theater set up like no other. This was a MASSIVE upgrade that continuously has blown me away (all pun intended). After learning that I had the opportunity to review this product, I immediately went to best buy to purchase a brand new Sony Bravia XR X90J TV which I used to review. Since this isn't a review for the TV I will just say this....the TV is amazing and I think you should go and buy it. The unboxing experience/setup experience. Unboxing the Subwoofer was extremely easy and seamless to unbox. Everything was well packaged and organized. It took me roughly 5 minutes to unbox and plug/setup the Subwoofer with the soundbar and rear speakers. The thing that impressed me the most was actually how quickly all three paired up to my Sony Bravia TV. It immediately recognized all three and started the pairing process and spatial audio process. This was incredible to me and worked exceptionally well. The other thing that I really love about the pairing; Its all about that BASS: I don't think anything else needs to be said but the best interest of the review. This is the best bass from a subwoofer I have EVER heard. It literally shook my house. I have zero complaints about this subwoofer. It is absolutely excellent. Overall: I would give this product a 10/10. I really think it is THAT good.

An absolute Must for the Soundbar
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this subwoofer is an absolute must if you have the soundbar. No surround system is complete without a subwoofer. First off, like the other components in the set, the subwoofer is really simple to set up. You just plug in the power cord and the system takes care of the rest. It automatically connects to the soundbar, and if you want, you can run the optimization process. Performance is really great. It really has great punch, but isn't over done. It really adds that layer of immersion you are looking for in action scenes of movies and just kind turns everything up a few notches. It also performs really well with music. Just like with movies, it adds that extra layer of punch without overdoing it. It doesn't get in the way. Overall, I would say this is a requirement for the soundbar, and my only real criticism would be why didn't they just include it in the first place.

Extra, EXTRA bass for the Sony HT-A7000
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is just for the SA-SW5 subwoofer which is an add-on for the Sony HT-A7000 soundbar. The HT-A7000 soundbar by itself without an external subwoofer is able to pump out a surprising amount of bass. It's pretty great on it's own but adding the SW5 takes it to a different level. If you want or need extremely deep lows or desire an incredible punch from the low end, his is the way to go. Even at the highest subwoofer level (which can be controlled independently from the HT-A7000 remote control) there was basically no distortion. Honestly though, the highest volume level for the sub is probably way too much for even the bass lovers out there. I found that on the medium to high level (around 8 or so) it produced plenty of bass and I definitely like a lot on the low end. The SW5 basically involes zero setup. I plugged it in while the HT-A7000 was actually playing and within 5 seconds it automatically paired with the soundbar without me having to do anything and it was instantly pumping out some additional bass. Highly recommended!

unbelievable bass!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The newest Sony sound bar, the HT-SA7000 is a 500 watt sound bar with 5 front speakers, 2 up-firing speakers, 2 directional tweeters, and dual subwoofers all in a sleek, attractive package that packs a punch! Has optional (separate) sub-woofer and surround speakers which can be purchased but aren't necessary. Sound bar has easy on screen set up instructions and utilizes a "sound optimization" feature which adapts the sound to your listening environment. The "up-firing" speakers reflect the sound off the ceiling, while the directional tweeters force sound outward to produce a sound that truly surrounds you. The unit comes with 2 HDMI + HDMI EARC, a USB port, optical-in, and an "S-center" port for use with a Sony TV which uses the TV's speakers to become your center channel (I do not have a Sony TV but imagine that this feature would be cool). Although the SA7000 is a little pricey, it provides an impressive sound that easily fills any room. Also includes voice control for use with Google or Alexa, and the blue-tooth allows you to pair it with your favorite music source, or you can "air play" directly to it. I ran across a couple negatives but they are minor. Like may sound bars, this one is tall and since my TV is on its own stand, the sound bar obscures the remote sensors of my TV.I ended up putting it behind my TV which probably limits it somewhat but it is still very impressive. Of course, this wouldn't be an issue if your TV was wall-mounted or if you mount the sound bar on the wall using the included template and brackets. I also receive my television signal "OTA" (over the air) paired with a Tivo. Unfortunately this created a delay issue between the audio and video where the mouths and voices do not match. I attempted to correct this in the TV (I have a Samsung) settings but this did not remedy the problem. The only solution I've found (so far) is to change the settings on the Tivo from Dolby to PCM. This took care of the sync issues but limits the Dolby options of the sound bar. If streaming directly through the TV, I do not have this sync issue. Maybe there is a better fix for this - I'll keep searching. This is impressive and could possibly eliminate the need for an A/V receiver - it sounds that good! I paired the system with the optional SW5, which is a free-standing 300-watt subwoofer that will definitely thump. Alert the neighbors because this thing sounds incredible - just like a theatre minus the rumbling seats. It provides crisp, clear bass and really adds depth to the sound bar. I tested out the "immersive AE" on a 20-year-old movie (Pearl Harbor) to see how it would respond and was blown away. Planes flying around sounded as good as a movie theatre. If you can swing the additional expense, you should ABSOLUTELY get the SW5 subwoofer. if you have neighbors close by, they do offer a smaller subwoofer - the SW3.

Nice boom from a small driver
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sub is used with my Sony A7000 soundbar for wireless connectivity. Though the driver is only 7" it does give out some impressive bass, but the only issue I had is that the spot that the sub sounds the best gets a bit of dropout. I haven't figured out what's causing the inteference so I've had to settle with spot #2. It's not bad there, just not as nice as my first choice. Pairing was a breeze and it adds that boom the soundbar really needs to bring the movies to life. While it can blow you away, it's not gonna knock out your breath like a 600w sub can. This sub only pulls 43w, so don't expect the rattle the walls or hit some of the deeper rumbles. I'd have prefered a bigger driver because the room we have this set up in is 700sqft. While it adds the extra bottom, it just doesn't hit like I'd like. I'm pickier than my wife with sound, so she's happy. The sound does match perfectly with the A7000's, so that's a huge plus.

Feel what you’re watching
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The perfect addition to the soundbar and rear speakers to complete the ultimate sound system. The perfect amount of boom. You literally plug it in and it connects up to the soundbar. I love not have speaker wires running all over. The amount of bass is controlled through the remote and up all the way is a whole lot of bass. Also sounds great with music. The build quality is great, feels very solid and looks good too. I am thoroughly impressed as a whole by this Sony home theater sound system. Exited for more movies at home!

Room filling lows!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this sub along with the Sony HTA 7000 sound bar and SA RS 3S rear speakers. This sub fills my den as well as the more powerful, larger sub attached to my traditional sound system. This sub has remained synced with the sound bar unlike the other wifeless sound bar system subs I have tried. This system (sub, sound bar and satellites) is the best EQ'd and crossed over sound bar system I have heard. I love this system. Check my sound bar review for more.

Amazing bass + wire-free and effortless setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall The Sony SA-SW5 is an Amazing add-on subwoofer for the Sony HT-A7000. It comes ready to pair out of the box upon powering, but if you miss the pairing window a single click of a button pairs the speakers. Pairing takes less than 10 seconds. If it weren't for Sony’s descriptive image cutouts, I would have been left speculating the next section. It comes equipped with 2 subs sporting what Sony calls Σ Magnetic Circuit and Separated Notch Edge, 2 technologies enrich bass and low frequency sounds. The outer construction seems very sturdy consisting of what would appear to be a wooden structure (based on a knock test) with a polymer overly, an added texture, and a fabric covering over the exposed sub. All of this sits a top a reflective pvc like base sousing the second, downward facing subwoofer. All-in-all this results in a very nice luxurious sub that doesn’t feel cheap.

Connects easily and has a great output
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sub is made to go with the matching soundbar. Together they work great. I unboxed the sub, plugged it in and turned on my soundbar. It wirelessly connected within a couple of minutes and was working right away. I played some music to try and test the bass and its loud and you can really feel it when you turn up the volume. This really helps balance the sounds from the soundbar and the experience would not be the same without it.
