this is just a at best average portable speaker. The build quality is good and the waterproof works good but the sound quality is definitely lacking especially for the price. Get JBL

Sony's XB01 is a truly portable bluetooth speaker. That pumps out seriously impressive sound - at top volume the bass thumbs and there's no distortion. I don't know how Sony manage to do this when I have larger speakers that struggle. The speaker is water resistant (IPX5) so it's not really for the pool or beach, but as a go anywhere speaker that is small enough you can throw it in a bag and forget it's there but know it will please a crowd you can't go wrong. What I like is this also doubles as a handsfree unit - great for when you're holding an impromptu conference call. Battery is rated for 6 hours which is honestly more than enough and you can power this by USB. It's standard micro USB powered and the only thing that makes this shy from being perfect is I wish it had USB C for fast charging. But that's a trivial complaint when the sound is so great. This speaker will always travel with me. Recommended.

I love this small but mighty speaker!! Good job Sony!! Out of the package I was a little unsure what to do - the instruction page is just pictures, simple enough but was looking for a little verbiage. There is a QR for a help guide though! The unit itself fits in your hand. I like the little rubber "legs" on the bottom to keep it in place. Very light weight which makes it easy to throw in my purse or backpack. The buttons on the top are hard to see as they blend in but you can feel them and after a few times of using them you know what and where they are. Would have liked a wall charger but found one in my sons room that i could use the USB cable in. I was able to get this little guy up and running with no problems/Bluetooth. The sound is wonderful - perfect for putting in the bathroom for showers and blowdryers, can hear perfectly the music I stream from my phone. So far battery life is good, gave it a full charge and have used it about 4.5 hours. Would absolutely recommend it, especially for the price!

DOnt hear very well. don't has much volume. The charge isn't durable for more than 1 hour. Don't recommended.

This speaker is decent for the size, the battery does not last too long, but otherwise it is great for while your in the shower or just need it for a little while.

This was a special gift for a special person....it will be used for celebrations to come. You can walk around with it in your bag or carry from room to room as well as party to party and car to car....music and smiles everywhere.

The package for the XB01 makes no secret about where its priorities lie with a big "Extra Bass" label on the front. And after using it for a few days, I have to complement them on the accurate labeling. For such a small speaker (easily tiny enough to slip into a pocket) it's got quite a distinctive voice. It's got plenty of volume, decent treble response, decently clear audio over Bluetooth, and low range response powerful enough for you to feel it. As you might imagine with a frequency response like that it's unlikely to win over any audiophiles looking for the best possible listening experience. But as a rugged little speaker to bring along on a hike or a boating trip so you can play some music off your cell phone, this is a pretty good pick made only better by the long battery life and water resistant design.

Convenient little speaker, easy to connect but not all that loud. It's good for the price, just wish I spent a little more for a better quality speaker. I would say this is a good buy if you don't mind average volume.

This is a solid little speaker, that I use exclusively with my phone. Sometimes it does take a bit to connect via Bluetooth, but that shouldn't deter you from purchasing it.

I was very excited about listening to my music on another device. However I found it doesn’t hold a charge. I’ve changed the batteries several times but it only lasts about 15 min without using AC.

Works fine for what it is. The sound is good but not great, so if what you are looking for is great sound you should spend a little more and get a better model.

this is your basic Bluetooth speaker. it has some base in but not a loud base. It's ok just for listening to basic things like a computer movie. not recommend for rock music.

Not as good as others I've tried, yet it's not at all bad. Volume tends to be a tiny bit on the quieter side, or at least not as loud as I'd wish it to be.

I expected a little more based on the other excellent Sony speakers that I purchased in the past.It is OK for a personal speaker in close proximity.

This speaker costs almost half the price as the XB10 I picked up last year. Both have IPX5 water resistance, both have audio input jacks, both charge using micro USB, both have microphones supporting hands-free calling and both have straps. The more expensive speaker should be better, right? Why spend less on this SRS-XB01? - The SRS-XB01 is controlled by 4 prominent easy to feel buttons arranged in a grid so it CAN be used in the dark. - Clearer sound. - Smaller, lighter and easier to hold. - Can be pointed straight up or sideways without rolling away. Why spend more for the XB10? - Longer battery life, 16 vs 6 hours. - Louder sound, but less clear - More bass, but muddy - NFC pairing - You need the ability to connect two XB10s for stereo sound. Things to consider: - The XB10 will roll around unless it is balanced on the special lanyard/cradle. Don’t ever lose the cradle. - Good luck using the XB10 controls in the dark. They went out of their way to make it slick and smooth so there are no raised buttons to navigate by touch. You use your device to control the music instead, wasting battery by powering your screen and all the other things your device does in the background while unlocked. Note: This device does NOT support NFC. The specs listed by Best Buy are wrong. It is not advertised by Sony as having this feature and it is not listed in Sony’s specs. There is no mark on the device like the XB10 that supports NFC. I also tried -for science. Hopefully they will correct the product details.

It ok if you locked in your room and want some some sounds, but don’t expect it to be loud it’s just good for yourself in a room

Amazing speaker for size and price. But, if you want richer sound and higher volume, Consider spending a little extra and purchase the SRS XB-10.

Got this on sale during the holidays for a small yankee swap present. I wasn't able to listen in the store, but sony speakers typically have a good sound for reasonable price.

This thing is crazy small, like keychain small. But, considering how small it is the sound quality and volume is impressive.

This speaker is perfect for showers, bathtubs, and beach parties! It doesn’t sound bad at all, though it is ridiculously small in size! I can’t argue about it. It’s perfect!
