So I've been testing out this new portable speaker by Sony, the SRS-XB01. It's a nice little speaker (smaller than expected, but still powerful) that packs a nice punch thanks to Sony. Very simple and easy to use if you've ever used a Bluetooth product before. Great for listening to your tunes and/or using as a speakerphone when paired with your mobile phone. Very loud and clear audio and phone calls as well. Inside the package was a USB charging cable, the user manual, and a small lanyard loop to connect to the front right corner. On top of the speaker are 4 buttons, play/pause/phone button, pairing button, and the -/+ volume control buttons. Initial pairing is automatic when you turn on the speaker for the first time. The blue light behind the speaker grill flashes signifying it's in pairing mode while you also put your mobile device in pairing mode. It connects fast and easy. Battery life was pretty decent for a speaker this small and charging was just as fast. I recommend this speaker for anyone looking for a great personal speaker with a pretty nice punch for the price range.

It ok for the price. It's recommend not to be used in the car. I had no idea until after I opened the item and read the instructions.I wanted to use it in the car.

The Sony XB01 is an excellent continuation of the XB family of speakers. I have the XB41 and XB31, the XB01s much larger brothers and continue to be impressed with the sound quality, performance, and especially battery life of all speakers. The most important thing for a speaker is sound so I'll start with that. Sony has managed to squeeze a lot of sound out of such a small speaker. It will fill your room with quality sound or provide some atmospheric background sound for an outdoor space. Perfect for a day at the beach, pool, or campsite. It is water resistant (IPX5) so splashes won't kill it, but don't take it for a swim. Does it produce the best sound I've ever heard? No. Does it produce sound of such quality that I'm not ashamed to show it off? Absolutely. In fact, I'd gladly show off this speaker that is about the size of small fist but can fill a room/rooms with nice sounding music. With most small speakers, your expectations need to be adjusted. You aren't going to rattle windows with rumbling bass. However, the sounds are respectable coming from such a small speaker and high notes aren't tinny which is honestly what I expected. Build quality is very high. It feels durable and able to survive being taking outdoors, sitting on your desk at work, or tossed around in your beach bag. All would be appropriate and easily handled by the XB01. The four raised control buttons blend in with the black on black design, but are easily recognized with touch. It also comes with a nice convenient strap that you can use to hang the speaker or carry from location to location. It also comes with a short micro-USB charging cable. In conclusion, I would highly recommend the XB01. It packs a lot of punch for such a small speaker. If you want something that is going to have more thump, opt for one of the larger siblings. If you want something smaller to take around with you but still has 6 hours (incredible given the size!) of battery life and the power to fill a room, then the XB01 just might be for you. It's also worth mentioning that this speaker sells for $34.99! Quite frankly, I find that remarkable as I've had other speakers that cost substantially more and delivered similar if not less. So, yeah, I think the XB01 is a pretty darn good deal. Add it to your list of stocking stuffers for the holidays because I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed getting this. The uses are practically endless. Pros: *Size *Weight *Cost *Sound quality *Build quality *Battery life Cons: *Given the price, I don't really have a con to list here.

Not bad for the price. You have to turn the volume up all the way for decent sound when using it outside. Sound quality is about what I expected for the price.

Can barely hear when half way up and then if you raise volume a touch, it becomes too loud for background noise at work to keep at your work station.

I get it. It's tiny. But it's just slightly louder than my phone's speakers atax volume. Caught it on sale, so it's no big deal. Good for the beach or other quieter locations.

Cannot sync the speaker to iphone. It worked fine with ipad but tried three different iPhones and would not work.

Got it as a gift for someone and didn’t expect this speaker to be so small, just about fits in the palm of your hand. Wouldn’t have ordered if I knew it was so tiny

I wanted to give this little cute Sony speaker a try but when I compared it with my JBL Go 2 speaker, it was very obvious that the sound quality of the JBL won. So I returned it.

Ordered online and did curbside pickup. The process was seamless! But when I got home to blast some tunes I was disappointed in the size of the speaker. It’s much smaller than anticipated (only as big as my fist) and it does not pack a powerful punch. It’s not very loud nor does it have clear sound or big bass. I should have spent an extra $20 and gotten the JBL or Wonderboom.

This is a nice bluetooth speaker. I got it for my room. The song is decent nothing really exciting. The speaker itself is tiny. I think it's just good for a kid.

For being a Sony speaker and I am a big fan of Sony this speaker is not loud at all. My phone speaker is much louder and stronger then this. So definitely not a good buy.

This speaker is ok it’s not the best every time it’s about to die the volume gets really low, it does last long either still an ok speaker.

I liked it at first, but after awhile it didn’t stay charged for very long. I only got to use it for a few months before it started messing up.

It's good, but there are so many better ones. I have buyer's remorse for not spending more for stereo and more bass.

The speaker is good but the sound quality is low, the Altec speaker is louder just little to no bass. I was disappointed with the volume output.

The Sony - SRS-XB01 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Black is the smallest Bluetooth speaker that I ever listened to, but its size is no comparison to the sound that it puts out. Pairing is easily done by pressing the power button for three seconds, while waiting for your android device’s search to display the SRS-XB01 name on its screen. Tapping the name SRS-XB01 completes the Bluetooth connection. The sound emitted from the Sony - SRS-XB01 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Black is phenomenal, with a pure clear sound. Phone calls are heard over the speaker clearly. I was able to advance songs easily by pressing the play button twice. I could not get the song list to go backwards by pressing the play button three times, for some reason. In spite of that I still am very pleased with this small and cute Sony - SRS-XB01 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Black.

I use this for when I shower. Would not recommend for the restroom. This is more for like to have on your work desk and that's really it.

Good sound quality, but could not make this work with laptop Bluetooth.

Not as loud as I would like. I bought this for myself but since it's not as loud enough I left it for my boys and they love it.
