||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, I can't explain the quality of this product. I used to have to have several speakers, but now I can use this one for indoors or outdoors, my family love it during cookouts. Definitely a party necessity

Now I want one!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased as a gift, but after hearing it I want one for myself. Easy way to have tunes on the go, but a little heavy to carry very far. Best for stationary activities away from easy power sources.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you say. Extra bass you are expecting to be a little bit louder on the bass but it sounds almost like a regular speaker. Its a nice design and nice lights

Good quality product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My family bought this to use in our home gym and it serves its purpose admirably. Only thing keeping it from a 5 is the lack of low end bass, but maybe I’m too critical. Great performance for the price point.

Good so far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far it's good. Although I did purchase the warranty. Mainly cuz others that I had purchased elsewhere stopped working after a few months. This purchase was for my son. He takes it to work daily.

I love the lighting feature.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was on my 2 story house fixing roofing singles after a windy day. My speaker slipped and rolled off the roof onto the concrete sidewalk. To my amazement, I’m still enjoying my speaker.

Big sound from a little speaker!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup: The speaker came uncharged and took about 2 hours to charge at 5V 2.5A. You don’t need the Sony app to use the speaker. The app “requires” access to your contacts and many other pieces of personal information. The speaker works fine without it and I was not willing to give away so much data for little (if anything) in return. Sound: There is a lot of sound coming from this little speaker. The volume control on the speaker works independent of the volume control on the Music and Neutron apps on my Android phone. I like this feature as it allows me to leave my phone settings alone while controlling the speaker volume. Bass is very forward and positional (coming mostly from the rear of the speaker). The treble is limited to the front of the speaker. Mids are subdued but not absent. Equalization helps a lot if you want a more neutral sound signature. Phone: This SRS-XB21 has a built-in microphone and doubles as a speaker phone. Voices sound a bit tinny, but the microphone works well (according to colleagues on the phone) and there was no feedback noted. Battery: The speaker is equipped with a decent battery that provides sufficient power for many hours of listening. The Bluetooth connection will eat up battery (on the speaker and the source device) if you leave the speaker on overnight. The advertised battery life is 12h. I have not found battery life to be a serious limitation. Overall: This is a great little speaker. I’m tempted to get another to make it a true 2.0 portable stereo system. The following albums were sampled during my review: 2L Test Suite Adam Harasiewicz: Chopin Nocturnes & Preludes Adrian Legg: Waiting for a Dancer Antoine Dufour: Back & Forth (Sides A & B) Antonio Pleeth: Geminiani 6 cello sonatas Beatles: 1 Bill Evans: Everybody Digs Bill Evans Billy Mclaughlin: Fingerdance Bonnie Raitt: Road Tested Calum Graham: Phoenix Rising Creed: My Own Prison Dirks und Wirtz: Kinski Spencer Gismonti Don Ross: PS15 Earl Klugh & Bob James: One on One Francois Sciortino: French Guitar Giovanni Palombo: La melodia segreta, A Secret Melody Goran Sollscher: Eleven-String Baroque Hoff Ensemble: Quiet Winter Night Ian Ethan Case: Running Toward The Mountains Jian Wang: The Baroque Album Joe Satriani, Surfing with the Alien, Crystal Planet, Flying in a Blue Dream, Unstoppable Momentum John Doan: A Celtic Pilgrimage John Williams: The Guitarist Julian Webber: Elgar Cello Concerto - Saint-Saens Cello Concerto No.1 Krzysztof Meisinger: Villa-Lobos Melodia Sentimental Laurence Juber: Guitar Noir Lawson Rollins: Elevation Los Angeles Guitar Quartet: Spin Luca Stricagnoli: Luca Stricagnoli Markus Segschneider: Snapshots Michel Haumont: Michel Haumont & Co Mike Dawes: What Just Happened Miles Davis: Kind of Blue Mstislav Rostropovich: Beethoven The Cello Sonatas- Vol1&2, Chopin Cello Sotatas, Schubert Schuman Debusy Cello Sonatas, The Brahms Sonatas, Vivaldi - Tartini - Boccherini Cello Concertos Nora Jones: Come Away with Me Oslo String Quartet: The Shubert Connection Peppino D'Agostino: Acoustic Guitar Ralph Towner: My Foolish Heart Ryan LeBlanc: Speechless Sarah Mclachlan: Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, Surfacing Sergio & Odair Assad: Sérgio & Odair Assad Play Piazzolla Spencer Elliot: Some Forgotten Color, Unspoken Steve Vai: The Ultra Zone, Fire Garden Tomasz Gaworek: Born To Be Together Tori Amos: Crucify, Little Earthquakes TRONDHEIMSOLISTENE: In Folk Style, Souvenir I & II, Vladimir Horowitz: Rachmaninov Piano Concerto #3 Yo-Yo Ma: Bach Cello Suites Nos. 1, 5 & 6, Rachmaninov Prokofiev Cello Sonatas, Mendelssohn Piano Trios, Op. 49 & Op. 6

small and powerful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very impressed with this speaker. Its lightweight and very portable. There are speakers on all sides so the sound is awesome. its dust and waterproof so its will be great for outdoor adventures or beach trips. it connects very easily. the lighting features are cool but i could do without. i would assume it just kills the battery life but by downloading an app its easily turned off. the speaker is very customizable by the app. from lighting to sound preferences. it can even be turned off through the app so you dont have to get up. havent found any cons yet. the white color isnt very white, more like a silver gray color, would have preferred black. but otherwise great buy!

Works well for the shower
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to listen to music and radio while in the shower. Works well. Only wish is that it had a way to turn the bass high/low. Sometimes creates too much echo in the space we have it sitting.

Despite Minor Problem, a GREAT Bluetooth Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, Sony’s new SRS-XB21 Bluetooth Speaker is EXTREMELY good…and I DON’T mean “just for its size”. It’s well constructed, fairly hefty, and has more “bells & whistles” than one would expect…even more so considering its price. The mids & highs are very good, and the ExtraBass” is clear, and more powerful than I was honestly expecting. Compared to the metal grill of the previous-generation SRS-XB20, the cloth covering is considerably nicer…even better, it’s waterproof. Yes, you read right – WATERPROOF – as the XB21 (and its larger siblings, the XB31 & XB41) has an IP67 waterproof & dustproof rating. If you get ketchup on it at your family picnic, just run it under water to clean it up. Heck, you could even soak it in the sink if you get mustard on it…just remember to make certain all ports are covered first, and to take it out before three minutes ends. Speaking of picnics, if you have multiple units (XB21, XB31 and/or XB41), you can use the Party Chain feature, which allows you to connect up to 100 Sony SRS-XB series speakers. Continuing on the “party” mode, the XBs also contain Party Lights…multi-color LED lights that sync to the beat of your music. While not as good as a professional light show, it will liven up your small, personal party. Least I forget to mention, Sony has also included “Live Sound Mode”, which produces a more realistic 3D sound. When combined with Sony’s “Music Center” app, you have the ability to change sound modes, as well as lighting patterns. So, everything about the XB21 is great, right? Not so fast. It does have some “downfalls”. First, the included USB is far too short. Not only is it short, it’s also only a microUSB cable. With more & more devices (laptops, cell phones, tablets, etc) switching to USB Type-C, you would have thought Sony would have. Speaking of the charging cable, also not included is a charging adapter. That’s right…in order to charge your speaker, you have to either plug it into a computer (or other device with power supplied through the USB port), or you need to provide your own charging adapter. Guess that helped Sony keep the cost down. In regards to charging, there’s no charging indicator light. Yes, there are voice-prompts, but a visual indicator is more important. Lastly, controlling the music (back, forward) could have been better implemented. The only easily accessible buttons (located on top, on the right side) are power, volume up, volume down, & play/pause. In order to go back/forward, you have to press the play/pause button multiple times…talk about awkward. FINAL VERDICT: Overall, the Sony SRS-XB21 is an excellent speaker – great sound, ability to link multiple speakers, bass boost, LED lights. Unfortunately, it is slightly marred by certain negatives. Obtaining a longer USB cable, as well as a charging adapter is simple enough, but the lack of a charging indicator (when have you EVER seen a device without a charging indicator LED???), and the awkward controls, lowers the overall rating. Had it not been for these “problems”, I would have given this a 5-star rating. Nevertheless, it’s still an outstanding product, and one I’d recommend. At $100, this is a very good value. However, if you can afford to spend somewhat more, I’d also recommend the SRS-XB31 ($150) and SRS-XB41 ($250). Whichever you choose…or, should I say, whichever you can afford…you can’t go wrong with Sony’s new SRS-XB line. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

Great Speaker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This works great, sounds great. Our only complaint is the short battery life and that it starts to fade when the battery is getting low. But.. charge it regularly and no problem!
