The SRS-XB21 is not just “another portable Bluetooth speaker”. In this case, Sony has created a product that offers up to 12 hours of use on a full charge, surprisingly clean full range sound for it’s size, and is extremely forgiving of the elements. It has a IP67 rating, which I tested by running it under a faucet while operating it. Sony has improved the mesh design to make it easy to clean off dirt and other such things. Basically, you can use this near a pool, bathtub, outdoors or practically anywhere you want, without the worry of completely ruining it by exposing it to water or dirt. I have not personally had the opportunity to travel and test it in situations where my only options for music are my phone speaker or headphones. It can connect with other Sony products in this series to have a chain of speakers, like perhaps a backyard barbeque or a patio pool party. I had low hopes for the SRS-XB21, as it is pretty much entry level for this line of Sony portable Bluetooth speakers. My skepticism was dashed when I connected it to my phone and threw all sorts of music genres at it. It held up, with no discernable distortion, even at the highest volume setting. While this is not advertised or claimed by Sony to be indestructible, it can “weather” some conditions that you might not be willing to risk other products in. Don’t drop it, but don’t be afraid to take it with you wherever you go. It holds up to the type of accidents that would kill other products.

This was a gift for my daughter. She loves it and so did I that I bought the bigger one with colorful lights.

This cute little diaries pack a powerful punch and sync with one another effortlessly. They seem pretty durable as well.

Exactly what i needed. Lightweight and easy to use and the clarity is excellent. the color is really nice and vibrant.

After using may different wireless speakers of many different brands I think I have found the best one. The sony speaker looks and feels great as compared to the JBL and Beats speakers in the same price range. Even without the extra sound boosting features in the Sony Music Center App, the XB21 sounds very good. This little speaker produces a room filling sound that accurately plays back voices and a range of musical notes. This is clearly not an audiophile speaker, nor is it intended to be. This is a speaker that you can easily place on a coffee table in a living room, office, patio or take with you outside and listen to quality music playback. So for me, the XB21 is a fantastic little speaker. I havent tried the features like tap and dance and dont really think are the main selling point for this speaker. It is a cool extra feature which I dont think people will use that often. The buttons are rubberized and good quality and a sealing rubber gasket covers the back panel where you can find the charging port and a few buttons used for various features. The entire speaker is IP67 rated which means it can get wet (or completed immersed) in water and survive. Not sure I'd want to test that but there it is. As far as small, versatile, portable speakers go, this Sony is arguably the best one I have ever seen or heard. Set up was easy, a full charge lasts a good long while (Sony says twelve hours and in my experience around 10 hours), and some people will love the fancy light feature I was disappointed that it only has one colour and not multiple colours like the XB31 or XB41. Definitely dont buy any color other than black because the silver/white light will not be visible. For me, it’s all about sound, and the sound is adequate overall, but generous for a speaker of this size. That is to say, it’s pretty good so I give it 5 stars but honestly think that multiple colour lights and USB charging port should have been included in this price point.

I was interested in this Bluetooth Speaker and found it on sale. Highly recommend.. Bass Boost is the best feature.

The battery life is very short, not the 10 hours claimed. You cannot use while charging it. It will repeatedly say, "Please Charge" and the volume will greatly decrease. When it is charged, it does sound good. It is just not good for extended periods (more than 2 hours).

liked sprakers did get 3 but they did not work with my google went back to store and got 3 mini that work got special help

I bought it and haven’t regretted it. Battery lasts long and the bass is amazing. Definitely recommend buying it!

Sony has another winner with the XB21. The sound is surprisingly full for a speaker of this size. Mids & highs are good, but the lows seem a bit muffled in my opinion. Personally, I think turning off the Extra Bass mode helps quite a bit with the lows. Battery life has been pretty good so far, getting around 10 hours per charge. Sony claims 12, but I’m sure that’s under optimal conditions. With the app, you can set it so the speaker will announce approximate battery status (in percent remaining) every time you turn it on. No more surprise ‘recharge now’ when you’re just getting started. Personally, I found the party lights annoying, but they’re easy to turn off, so no worries there. Maybe kids would appreciate the lights more than I do, but I don’t foresee myself turning them back on. I only have one XB21, and my XB10 doesn’t have Wireless Party Chain, so I couldn’t try Add a speaker or WPC. Party Booster let’s you introduce various sounds to the music by tapping/hitting the speaker in different spots. Different spots yield different sounds, and have two volume levels depending on how hard you hit the speaker. Kinda gimmicky, but my daughter had fun with it for about 15 minutes. Thankfully, that feature isn’t turned on by default… One of my favorite features is that it’s waterproof! This means I can use it by the lake without fear of it getting wet. And, get this, it FLOATS!! No more worries about it rolling off the boat/dock never to be seen again. Score! Biggest gripe would be that, unless you download the Sony app, trying to turn different features on/off requires a multitude of different key presses. And, to top that off, you have to go online to Sony website to find the manual in order to figure out what key presses are needed. I get trying to save the environment, but come on, at least include a cheat sheet of key presses. Overall though, it’s a great unit, and I’m very happy with it.

Speaker is extreme loud & clear. I will recommend this and i might buy another one. Its a blast and great find.

I like this little speaker, the only complaint is that volume really drops when its 50% or lower on charge

I love this speaker. The sound is very clear with lights that flash to the beat. How cool is that!!
