I love music. The more of it around me the better. I have had a number of portable bluetooth speakers, and this Sony is, so far, my favorite. Connecting to my phone was a piece of cake, just a button on the speaker and then a couple clicks on my phone. Connected. Easy. Then, for such a small speaker, the bass is shockingly good. And the sound is terrific. It's perfect for dancing around my living room, my back yard, and the local park. It has a solid battery, which is easily recharged with a USB cable and, boy, it lasts. Hours, it lasts. Would I buy it again? Yes, for sure. In fact, you can connect the speakers together, so, I will certainly be buying another one. While the speakers are small enough and light enough to carry around with me everywhere I go, why bother when I can just link two or three of them and fill my house with my favorite playlists.

I have no idea how this speaker works the way it does. It's small and solidly built, but sounds huge and has decent, solid bass. The best part is that if your phone supports LDAC (A high quality bluetooth codec) the speaker does, too, supporting better than CD quality sound for hi-res audio files. I've been disappointed with Sony wireless speakers in the past, since they have tended to sound muddy, but this little guy bucks that trend by producing low, solid bass without being overly muddy. While bass-heavy, the sound is more solid than boomy. Pairing is easy with my Samsung S9+. Just hold the phone to the NFC symbol on top and the phone takes care of the rest. Sony provides an app to set features like equalization, lighting (yes, it has some built in light, fun for a party I suppose) and to set up sound effects that are triggered by slapping the speaker in various places. The material it's covered in feels good and is supposedly water and dust proof. I have yet to challenge that claim. Battery life is phenomenal. Mine came charged to 50%. I've listened to it at moderate volume for a few hours now and it still reports 50%. You should be good for an entire day at the beach.

This Sony does not seem to hold a charge long enough.

Good sound quality, seems pretty durable. Battery life is horrible. Maybe get 2 hours on higher volume levels without the lights even being on. Also limits the volume level as the battery gets to a lower level.

Loved the new texture compared to the prior model. Not sure why they got rid of useful buttons and the extra bass as the product is the Extra Bass model. Shouldn't of cut out the buttons to add "party mode" or whatever that is...giant waste 99% of people wouldn't use

Pretty god but would go for the jbl speaker instead

Firstly, it came with 50% charge, so I was able to play with it without having to wait. Second , it connected fast to my phone and was ready to rock in little time. It is a decent size and has good sound right out of the box. Once the app is downloaded you can configure the sound to your liking. Lights on mine are only one color (sea foam green) and will beat to the music (they can also be turned off in the back). Looks like 3 front facing speakers sitting side by side, so it is directional. It has the ability to connect to other sony bluetooth speakers to create a whole room sound if you so desire. I tried with rock, classical, goth, and country. All were sounding good with not alot of bass (did not use app on these). The "bump" sound you can make when "tapping" the front/side/back of the unit is not easy to trigger, so being the life of the beat party might take some practice. All in all I would buy this if I need a medium sized speaker for book shelf or outside entertainment. But I would for sure get the app first so you are not turned off when you first use it.

At max volume, you’d have a good hour before recharging was needed, at half volume you had 4... the box says 12 hours, I’m guessing with the volume low and I mean extremely low!
