I already own the bigger siblings to the SRS-XB22, but wanted this smaller speaker for ease of packing when I travel for work and suitcase space is at a premium. Although I have been thoroughly impressed with the larger speakers, I wasn't really expecting much from this little guy as I was just looking for something to put out background noise in hotel rooms. I quickly realized my low expectations were completely unwarranted. This little guy puts out lots of sound that is amazingly deep, rich, and detailed. Now, it's obviously not audiophile quality and you aren't going to make any eardrums bleed with it, but the XB22 is a solid contender with speakers twice its size and cost. It includes many of the same "fun" options of its larger siblings like LED lighting (white only, not all the way around the speaker cabinet as larger ones), wireless party chain, and party booster. Overall, I'd say this speaker is a fantastic value and you get lots of bang for your buck. Extremely portable and full of good sound, the XB22 is a can't miss.

Pretty good sound for small spaces with good bass response. The lights quickly got on my nerves, but you can turn them off. Compared with other small bluetooth speakers these are good for a small room or desk, but not necessarily a party speaker for a large space. Love the construction and materials used. Recommended.

Sound quality is pretty decent with nice bass considering it’s a portable speaker but the battery life doesn’t make it very…portable at all. Takes forever to charge and can’t even last 3 hours without needing more charging. I literally have to keep it plugged into a wall in order for it to not die in the middle of every get-together. Might as well not even be cordless. Glad I got it as a gift and didn’t spend my own money on it. I’d give 2 and a half stars if I could.

The sound is wonderful! I can turn the volume all the way up to fill my bedroom close a door without sound disturbing anyone watching TV in the next room. I wouldn't say its too heavy with bass but it's great coming from a speaker this size. I love the way the lights flash with the sound of the music. I was hoping it would be more options with the lights like changing the colors but the strobe & flashing is still a plus. It has its own ring tone when someone is calling. Now the extras that sold me 100% is the speakerphone with the Google chromcast. So far I've able to send text & the usual make calls. I haven't found any other way besides holding the button yet but it is linked to my home device as well so I'm sure I can go handsfree with everything.

Honestly, when we opened the box we thought this speaker would be a bust because it's so small. Boy, were we wrong!! This compact speaker puts out better sound than many "normal sized" we've had. Easy to set up, great clarity of sound, and an amazing bass. Would definitely recommend!

Nice deep bass in such a small package. It was very easy to connect to my iPhone. Playing music was a breeze. "Live" mode gives the sound a bigger, airier sound. It is small enough for easy travelling.

Overall great speaker. I picked it up when it was on sale. I would recommend it.

I have the old one, XB 20. I love that. This one look good too.

We tested multiple bluetooth speakers in the store, and based on performance (of the limited playlist in the store) and the Sony brand name, we chose this one. After having (and playing) it for a week, I'm disappointed. First off, the battery life is poor - it claims to be up to 12 hours, but even after a full 24 hour charge, it won't last more than 5 or 6. Agreeing with another reviewer, only a VERY short charging cable is included (no charging block), so I had to put out MORE money on the charging block AND a longer cord. Second, the sound quality is... well, the "quality" is good, but it has an awful cracking/popping noise when there is any heavy bass playing in the music. That alone is enough to drive me nuts enough to return it, since I listen to classic rock & hard-driving country music... thus hearing a constant cracking/popping noise all through the songs. And yes, that's at any volume, not just cranking loud. "Instructions" are a joke - merely printed pictures with fingers pointing, no wording. I had to call the store and ask a salesperson to play around with the demo to figure out how to turn it off. Also agreeing with another reviewer, way overpriced for what you are getting, so unless you find it on sale and don't plan on using it for long periods and/or for music with a heavy bass in it, don't bother buying this speaker.

Purchased this original for a weekend out and ended up being an item we use regularly. Great durable speaker that we ended up purchasing additional as gifts

It is loud which is nice but it doesn’t really have bass. Battery doesn’t last long.

I bought this sony speaker and nothing but problems out the box . not sure if i bought a bad unit but the bluetooth would not stay connected for nothing . I returned it and got the jbl flip 4 on sale for the same price and very pleased with the jbl . the jbl flip 4 out sounds the sony and the bluetooth is flawless .

The sound is super tin-like. I bought this for work (manufacturing environment) and it's loud enough, and sounds perfect if I'm wearing ear plugs, but for home or anywhere without ear plugs, it sounds awful. My echo dot sounds way better for way cheaper. The battery life is my main issue. I charged it the full 10 hours it said to before use. I made sure it said the battery life was full, and the battery life is supposed to be 12 hours. I can't even get 30 minutes out of it before it turns down to a whisper and constantly repeats "needs charge" over my music the rest of the way. You would think you'd get at least 8-9 hours before that happened on a supposed "12 hour" speaker. Can't even get an hour. I tried several times. It would probably help if I could turn off the "extra" bass and the lights but you can't. Definitely returning. Wasted almost $100 for something I can't even use.

Im not too impressed with it. battery goes about 6 hrs without running the lights. its not very lound. my biggest complaint is once the battery hits 20% it turns all the way down. even if you plug it in you cant turn it up. For what i do its a waiste of money.

Extremely disappointed with the sound quality of the sony SRS-XB22. The short and simple review is that this unit isn't even as good as the speakers on my 2015 MacBook Pro. It distorts at high volume, and the bass is weak. This is the third consecutive sony headphone/speaker I've been disappointed by, never again, it's getting returned only hours after purchase.

The speaker is great...... for like 15 minutes. Despite charging it all day and night fresh out of the box. Then when it gets to 50% it automatically turns down to save power which you cannot change at all. Don’t even waste your time.

Wanted to like this speaker, but at 70 percent battery would auto turn down to 50 percent. Might have received a lemon but its going back !

Don’t waste your money on this pile. Used 5 times and battery will not charge.
