After being underwhelmed with a previous bluetooth speaker, I was ready to try out this updated Sony speaker. Pairing was quick and easy (as most are these days). Immediately, I was impressed with the overall sound quality for some of my favorite songs! The bass was strong, like I prefer (much better than my prior speaker). Holding the speaker while the music is playing, you can really feel it! When I was first listening to it, the bass doesn't seem to carry too far. Once you get to about 5 feet or further away, it gets diminished. The rest of the music still sounds good, though. Then, I installed and set up the Sony Music Center app, which lets you make some modifications to the speaker (more about that later). I adjusted the equalizer (BASS/MID/TRE), setting the Bass almost full, and that did seem to help some. In the Sony Music Center app, to can set the bluetooth codec, turn on Party Booster (where you can become part of the music by tapping on the speaker in certain areas to play different sounds, but it seems a little cheesy), and change the Lighting mode. The lighting is a little lacking, but I'm not planning on using it anyway. In the Music Center app, you can chose RAVE, CHILL or STROBE (or LIGHT OFF). There was one thing that was a little strange about setting the speaker up in the Music Center was that if are already connected to the speaker, you have to disconnect the speaker (not un-pair), start the setup, then connect to it again when it prompts for it to recognize it. There are some cool features you can use, if you have more than one of these speakers. You can set up two together two different ways. Double, where both speakers play the same sound. Or Stereo, with one being the left channel, and the other the right channel. You can also combine up to 10 with Wireless Party Chain. I'm not thinking that this mode would be used that much, but it is a nice feature. The speaker does have an IP67 rating, stating that it is dust proof and waterproof, as long as the rubber cap on the back is completely closed. One thing I did find odd was that it has a micro USB charging connection when everything seems to be moving to USB Type-C lately (my other speaker does have type-C). All in all, this is a great speaker and I do like this speaker better than the other one I have and will probably be using it much more.

As I'm working under a bit noisy environment, my iPad pro speaker didn't have enough power. This SONY one is a perfect alternative, while battery time is a bit questioning though.

I purchased one of these speakers for my wife. This speakers has really good clarity for the size. It is really nice. So nice my wife bought me one for my office and I love it!

Great speaker for the price. In loud environments, speaker could use a little more volume but still gets the job done.

Bought 2 to use with my projecter outside. Easy to connect, can pair them as right and left to have surround. Perfect for the backyard and on both sides of the deck

Nice sounding speaker, used primarily to listen to music while golfing with my buddies. Deep bass and quality sounds! Purchased on sale, so good value!

This unit has good sound but the battery life is terrible on it and you can’t go too far with your phone away from this unit or it doesn’t play.

My husband is hard of hearing. We bought this speaker so he could put it near him to hear his movies/programs while recovering from surgery. It works perfect!!

When I first used this speaker I thought it really sounds good for the size. But after 4hrs the battery went to 50% along with the volume. I charged it back up and kept it plugged in while in use...the battery still drained! Why does the battery lose its charge when it's connected to power? It's going back and I'll probably get a JBL I saw a good review on.

Not bad sound for the size of the speaker. Wish the volume control buttons were a bit softer to push and control. Lightweight, durable.

Good thing that I bought the two year warranty on the last one that stopped working correctly in a month. Hopefully this one will work longer

Definitely recommend this for out on the porch, taking to the beach/pool, or even blasting in the house while cleaning. Great sound quality!!
