|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you're searching for a Bluetooth speaker to jam out at home or outdoors, the Sony SRS-XB23 Bluetooth Speaker is a nice option worth considering. PROS - Loudness: This speaker gets pretty dang loud! I was super impressed by the volume it achieved. Perfect for filling the room at home or being able to hear from a distance outdoors. - Compact: It's about the size of two Coke cans stacked on top of each other, meaning it can easily slip into any cup holder around you. - Waterproof: If you use this near the pool or while watering the grass, don't fret about getting this speaker wet. - USB-C: As more and more products adopt USB-C, that means I can travel with just one cable to charge all my devices. This product has a USB-C port for charging, so I very much appreciate that! - Color Options: While there are various great color options for this speaker, I have the regular black version, which I like. But if you're looking for a bit more flair, then there are four additional colors to pick up. CONS - Sound Quality: Out of the box, the speaker doesn't sound to have as good bass as it advertises on the box. Thankfully that can be resolved by downloading the Sony Music Center app. RECOMMENDATION One thing I highly recommend is that you download the Sony Music Center app on your mobile device. In the app, it will automatically detect your speaker and present you with various options, including sound quality settings (equalizer), power-saving features, and more. The reason I'm mentioning this is that the speaker by default does not have enough bass to my liking right out of the box. Once you download the Music Center app, you can easily change that and boost the bass much higher. OVERALL The Sony SRS-XB23 Bluetooth Speaker is a great option for those searching for a versatile speaker that is both compact, offers great battery life, and can handle the elements.

The size is good, it's easy to hold or locate in plenty of places and the exterior seems pretty rugged and should hold up well to use. I've had a Sony XB10 series bluetooth speaker that I've been happy with for a while and my only small complaints about that one was the volume is not as loud as I had hoped and the range is slightly shorter than I'd like. Neither of those is an issue with the XB23. It's plenty loud to hear above my tool noise or just in multiple rooms of the house. It also has great range. I can walk about 30' away through multiple walls and it does not skip a beat. The bass is great as it has a cone on both ends of the speaker. The only thing I'm curious to see is how the end cones hold up as they are not 'protected' by anything, you can touch them and feel the bass. I'm assuming they'll hold up fine as this speaker is rated for waterproof and sandproof. I'll update if anything happens as I use my speakers in very harsh environments. The bluetooth paired seamlessly and when you connect it gives you a voice confirmation that it is connected to a device. The battery charges quickly and last plenty long. I like that it has a USB-C port to charge as this is what almost all of my devices are now. I did not have a chance to test the stereo pairing or the party pairing settings but they should rival the competitions offerings for syncing multiple speakers together. Overall I am extremely happy with this speaker and would highly recommend it.

The SRS-XB23 has undergone extensive shock testing to make sure it can withstand the inevitable knocks, bumps and scrapes that come with everyday use. Even if you drop it, the SRS-XB23 will keep on working. It also has an IP67 rating which makes the speaker dustproof, waterproof, rustproof and washable. Thank you for choosing Sony!
