Not spectacular, but ok.

It's ok - not spectacular but ok for the purpose. It's not stereo, and the sound doesn't have a ton of subtly, but it's not annoying or cheap, either. Maybe I'm still mourning the Harmon Kardon speakers that I got on sale at Best Buy -- that got destroyed (was $200, on sale for $60). That was a really nice speaker. When I can afford to upgrade from this Sony, I will do so. But...oh well.

Wanted to like it

Considering the price range was the same as better quality speakers im disappointed in this speaker. The sound was very muffled and when put on loudest setting the words weren't clear anymore. The bass also overpowered the song. Wouldn't recommend if quality is what your after but ok if you dont mind a basic mid priced speaker.

Posted .Hi Jevans, we regret that the XB23 failed to meet your expectations. This is definitely not the listening experience we'd like you to have. If you haven't tried it yet, please install the Sony Music Center app. It has a Sound quality setting and equalizer adjustment to fine-tune your music. You can also follow the steps on the Help Guide below to troubleshoot the low sound level.

easy to use, good battery
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a nice sounding compact speaker. It is very easy to pair, and does so quickly. The battery charge lasts a good amount of time, and the controls on it are easy to use. Sound quality is nice, but there are some other bluetooth speakers I have used in similar price range that have a better overall sound. Sony seems to be a bit bass heavy on a lot of their speakers though, so thats not unique to this one. I do wish it came with a charging brick, though it did come with a charging cord. For the price, this is a Nice speaker, but the sound may not be for everyone. Ease of use and paring is great though, as sometime this can be a headache.

While we are pleased you are satisfied with the sound quality of our XB23, we are sorry if the maximum volume of the speaker did not live up to your expectations.
The XB23 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout its volume range. This is something our music-loving customers appreciate most. That being said the SRSXB23 also gets very loud for its size and audio precision.
We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools like an equalizer to fine-tune your XB23 and maximize the volume to your liking.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different audio compression and transmission types.
