The battery charge lasts a good amount of time, and the controls on it are easy to use. Sound quality is nice, but there are some other bluetooth speakers I have used in similar price range that have a better overall sound. Sony seems to be a bit bass heavy on a lot of their speakers though, so thats not unique to this one. I do wish it came with a charging brick, though it did come with a charging cord. For the price, this is a Nice speaker, but the sound may not be for everyone. Ease of use and paring is great though, as sometime this can be a headache.

While we are pleased you are satisfied with the sound quality of our XB23, we are sorry if the maximum volume of the speaker did not live up to your expectations.
The XB23 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout its volume range. This is something our music-loving customers appreciate most. That being said the SRSXB23 also gets very loud for its size and audio precision.
We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools like an equalizer to fine-tune your XB23 and maximize the volume to your liking.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different audio compression and transmission types.

Sony portable speaker are okay

I've had my share, and so far they do what they are meant for. Besides the look and brand, the speaker can be easily muted even with their designs vents. Also battery life says 20hrs but as long as I've had it the charge doesn't last long enough. Also when the battery is somewhat depleted the audio is automatically lowered and no way of increasing the volume.

We're happy to hear you like most of the features of the speaker. The battery life of the XB23 is approximately up to 12 hours, so your music never gets left behind. In addition, the SRS-XB23 can party even longer than you can. Even in EXTRA BASS mode, you can party for up to 10 hours. Please make sure that the speaker is fully charged, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker battery healthy & safe). To ensure optimal performance with the speaker, please refer to the steps and guidelines below.
• The sound may become low in the following cases. This is not a malfunction.
— When the built-in battery is running low and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly, while the speaker is being powered by the built-in battery only.
— When the rechargeable built-in battery is running low as a result of long-time use of the speaker at a loud volume even though the speaker was connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor (commercially available) or to a computer that comes equipped with a USB charging port.
• If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure below.
1. Turn off the speaker.
2. Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.

Bad sound.

Very disappointed in Sony with this product. More of a entry level speaker for a cheap car. Bass sounds horrible. Sound like a old school paper cone. 100$ is just way to steep to keep. Design is the reason for the two stars. Bluetooth worked fine.

If you have not done so please download the Sony Music Center app. There you will find ways of changing the sound of your XB23, and if none of the presets are to your liking, there is even an EQ for further tuning.
As for the speakers and design we appreciate your feedback and rest assured your device is not only capable of taking a few bumps, but it is dust and waterproof. No paper speakers.
