I purchased this to put in my utv when the family and I are our cruising around the sound is great and the lighted ring around the speaker is eye pleasing.

This speaker packs a lot of punch for it to be so compact. My only complaint is that I wish it came with a longer charging chord and a wall plug. Other than that, it’s perfect.

The speaker is very loud. Good sound very decent bass for being so small. A lot of little extra features but functionally it is awesome definitely recommend

I take this speaker everywhere and it always makes for a good time! I specifically like the color as well as the music coordinated lights. Good for house partys or hanging outside.

I receive this as a xmas gift, it was the best gift ever! I can now listen to my music near the pool or by the ocean, even underwater!!!! Very loud, easy to setup and carry.

Purchased to play music from phone and it is so easy to pair and use that even someone not very electronics savvy could figure it out, great sound and family loves it.

Great sound for the office. I tried 6 different ones and this was the best sounding... water proof and the LED show in the dark is amazing. You can also sink more than one together

This speaker pairs nicely with my android phone. The sound is clean sounding and crisp. The bass is good for a speaker this size. The mid range is good. Lighting add nice effect.

Talk about big sound from a small speaker. The XB31 is more than enough to fill a large space with great sound and bass. Typically I bring it out a BBQs and just let it rip.

The sound quality is clear and full, lots of bass and i love you can set it up to play as a party chain. I liked it so much i bought 3 all together to use as surround sound

Medium sized speaker is low profile but packs a punch. Amazing sound and color scheme. Small enough for on the go, but big enough to power your outside or bar party.

My Son said I should upgrade my portable speaker and I agreed. This speaker sounded way better than I expected it to. The battery life is excellent and it charges very fast.

Excellent sound, waterproof, dust proof, and perfect for the beach or just about anything. Easily connect simultaneously to other similar speakers for a house of sound.

The Sony SRS-XB31 is part of Sony's 2018 lineup of portable waterproof Bluetooth speakers. The Bluetooth speaker market seems to be booming (pun intended) and I find it sort of amazing the quality of sound you can get from speakers of all sizes now. It seems like not too long ago you had to have large speakers and lots of wattage in order to get enjoyable sound. I'm assuming that improvements in small digital amplifiers, combined with reliable power sources results in the large number of options on the market today. As for the SRS-XB31, all of the basics are here such as: charging using a standard microUSB; the ability to use it as a power bank via a USB port; a standard 3.5mm input jack if you don't want to use a Bluetooth source; different exterior colors; and IPX7 and IPX6X ratings for waterproof and dust proof performance respectively. With that said, it appears that Sony chooses to differentiate this offering with some key features. First, it seems like Sony has used the term EXTRA BASS for decades, which is akin to the Loudness equalization. In practice, I like the sound signature for not being overly boomy, but still adding some equalization curve adjustments. Second, it supports the LDAC, AAC and of course SBC Bluetooth codecs. LDAC is one of the latest codecs that promises high quality and low latency. Thankfully Google was able to add LDAC support starting with Android 8.0 Oreo. The first time, you'll need to use hardware buttons on the speaker itself to allow access to LDAC. Apple devices at this time will have to settle for using AAC, which I found adds a slightly noticeable audio/visual sync delay. Third, the SRS-XB31 has integrated multicolor LED lighting than can be set to different modes to go along with the music. Since it uses LEDs the battery impact should be pretty low, but you can disable it all the same if you want. Fourth, a Party Booster function exists, where the speaker itself can add different sound effects whenever different sides of the speaker are tapped. (Okay, more like slapped; a light tap doesn't really activate it.) And last, but not least, a Wireless Party Chain function allows multiple (supposedly up to 100) compatible Sony speakers to be chained together. While Bluetooth 5.0 allows for multiple synchronized connections, it is not yet found/available in many devices. The SRS-XB31 does report battery level via spoken voice when powered on, as well as in the Sony Music Center app. It does NOT report battery level to iOS or Android via the native means, which is a little unfortunate. The outer covering has a fabric feel, which is nice to handle and definitely a step up from the typical plastic exterior found on other speakers. I really enjoy the sound quality and output level that the SRS-XB31 is capable of. The LED lighting and Party Booster might be novelty things to use in certain situations, but will be unused most of the time for me. Since it supports LDAC, I prefer to use it instead of my other speakers that only support SBC or AAC.

I love my Sony speaker and most likely will purchase a second one for the downstairs and more of a dual sound. It's waterproof and has great sound and the lights are fun!

Super loud for the size and the best bang for the buck as far as store demo models. Has good bass and clear sound at higher volumes

Its a great speaker, it is light to take with you where ever you go plus the sound is great . For a little get together with your friends I would recommend this speaker.

This speaker delivers as promised. The sound is great. I bought it for home use but since it is water proof we take it to the beach and camping. I would but it again.

Bought this to bring portable sound to patio, porch and 'wherever'. Sounds better than anticipated, and lasts a LONG time between charges. Great purchase!!
