Purchased two separate Sony Wifi Speakers and use them frequently for casual music and also as a tv Wifi once output. Very content with the purchase and quality of sound.

I was very surprised with the punch of this small speaker. It sounds clear and has a punch, very satisfied with the product. And the lightning it produces it’s very cool.

Good speaker. Worked well, sadly the adapter to make it work with my TV was very poor. It has too much lag.

Very loud for home, office, backyard, and garage use. I was a bit hesitant at first to buying a Sony speaker over a Bose or JBL speaker but I was not disappointed.

Full rich sound with great bass. The battery life is decent at best, their range is based off keeping it at half volume, so if you play it at max for example you’ll most likely get roughly 6-8 hours instead.

I bought these speakers for the portability and even though they're small they have a big sound. They have a nice balance of high mids and lows, definitely a good buy.

The SRS-XB31 is an amazing little speaker. I especially like the Sony Music App that lets me adjust sound and color bar settings. Sound quality is also quite good.

This is my review of the Sony SRS-XB31 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker. The SRS-XB31 is the middle-sized model of three different sizes of this portable Bluetooth wireless speaker. There is also the SBS-XB21 and the SBS-XB41. The biggest difference is the size of each. This speaker is nice. Mine is blue. The material it is made from feels like something between plastic and rubber, very rugged, solid, and capable of taking a beating. It is waterproof with an IP67 rating, so it can be immersed in fresh water. It is also dustproof, and washable. The area with the micro USB where the internal battery is charged, the “speaker out” jack, the “party chain” button, and the “party booster” button are located, has a detachable section that when replaced tightly enables the waterproof feature. The standard music controls are all located behind the waterproof material at the top right side of the speaker and easy to depress. The sound is great. If you really like deep bass, you can add extra to the already bass-rich sound. I personally lower the bass a little and increase the mid tones and the treble to balance the sound out. You can do all of this through the “Music Center” App, which can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store at no cost. You have a lot of control over how your music sounds. Best of all, though, is how the sound seems to surround you. It is the way that the speakers are angled in the device and a new DSP technology which sends the music to a wider area. Since this little machine is so potent for its size, the only time I turned it up loud was to see if there was any distortion. It maintained a crisp, clear sound all the way. Speaking of size, the SBS-XB31 is very easy to hold without feeling much, if any, fatigue in the arm. And a fun feature that is unique to these speakers is the “Party Booster.” When engaged, you tap different places on the speaker to get various sounds like a snare drum or a cymbal or a bass drum. I used to play drums in a bugle corp so I have a lot of fun with this. Last, but not least, is the “Party Chain” feature. You can connect up to 100 of these speakers together through Bluetooth. I own the XB31 and the larger sized XB41 and together they fill a room in a unique way. They also have colored lights that are coordinated with the music and sync together so that if you could have enough folks that own a model put them all together in a circle, they sync up perfectly, creating a neat light show in effect. I thought it was impressive with just two speakers synced up, let alone 100. I think this one feature would be attractive to a younger crowd of party goers, and maybe the older crowd too. Overall, I like the SRS-XB31. I definitely give it five stars.

Definitely plays well for its size. I would actually compare it to speakers double its size and not compare to ones the sane size as the sound is on its own level.

Hello, and thanks for reading my review! This review will cover my thoughts, and impressions of the Sony SRS-XB31 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker. I have previously owned the SRS-XB10, and the SRS-XB20 so my impressions of this new speaker will be made largely in comparison to those. If you have owned one of the previous models is it worth it to upgrade? If not is it worth the asking price to jump in? Read on to find out. I am not going to regurgitate everything you can read on the product page, but instead I will tell you whether or not the claims made there are accurate or exaggerated. First up is the Extra Bass Mode. Verdict: Accurate. As far as bluetooth speakers go the SRS-XB31 is capable of producing a decent amount of bass without sounding droning. Live Sound Mode: Verdict: Exaggerated. I didn't really care for it. Sounds like they just added a bunch of reverb. Waterproof/Washable/Dustproof. Verdict: Accurate! Very cool feature. It's nice to not have to worry about damaging your speaker with dust or water, and it makes clean up simple. Lasts all day. Verdict: YUP! While I haven't played it for 24 hours straight I just can't kill this thing. That's all while playing music, AND charging my phone with its built in USB port. Bluetooth and NFC function very well. Quick to connect, and it works as you would expect. Party Booster. Verdict: Gimmick. For me at least. You can tap the speaker in different spots to make sounds like a record scratch or whatever. It works, but it's not something I imagine I will ever use. The lighting is one thing that surprised me. It was another feature I didn't think I would care for, but it turns out it's pretty great! A strip of multicolor LEDs wrap around the entire speaker, and produce some pretty cool effects to create a mood to go with the music. That bring me to the Sony Music Center App. This is pretty much essential in my opinion. Not only does it allow you to adjust the lighting pattern (from RAVE to something more relaxing), but it also lets you tailor the sound. Here you can adjust bass, mid, and treble with a mini equalizer to make any genre of music you are listening to sound great. Worth a mention is the ability to link up more speakers. Do your friends have these too? Link em up! You can in fact link up to 100 speakers at the same time if you are looking to cause an earthquake or get the cops called on you. Overall the sound quality is great on this speaker, and that is what's most important. It's all the extras that make this particular bluetooth speaker shine above the competition. Yes it's definitely worth an upgrade, and yes it is absolutely worth the asking price. Give it a chance you will be glad you did! Thanks Sony.
