I love this speaker! The SRS-XB31 is an excellent new addition to Sony's line of portable Bluetooth speakers, and it's winner in my book. I have an earlier model which I like very much, but I wanted to try this one. It paired very quickly with my Echo and then began to amaze me. It remained solidly paired to my Echo throughout my 2 story house, as well as out into my backyard. Sound quality is excellent, especially the bass tones which are solid but not obtrusive. It sounds better than some more costly speakers I am aware of. If having a party and you want to hear the music in different areas, this speaker can be linked with other wireless speakers to provide music wherever you want it. While music is playing, there are lights of various colors that that flash, blink, etc. I was concerned the lights would be a drain on the battery, but no worries. The battery life is excellent: Sony says up to 24 hours. I won't quarrel with that, because the first day I had it, it played for a few hours, and on the second day, without recharging, it played most of the day, still going strong when I shut it off. When it is time to charge, you can use pretty much any standard USB connection. If you link it to your wireless phone, you can receive calls and talk hands-free. If using it outdoors, no worries, becaues it is waterproof and dustproof. Get it dirty, just rinse and go. This is an outstanding speaker, and I most definitely recommend it to a friend.

This is my first bluetooth speaker. I use it with my portable dj setup. Nice sound and fits perfect in my back pack.

I cherish a great speaker, and love my music. Sony has a winner in this speaker. It connects via bluetooth flawlessly. It has insanely awesome battery life at 24 hours with caveats, but playing it on the coffee table for long periods of time still hasn't run down the battery. And mind you, that is with the lights on as well. You have a USB port to charge your phone if needed. You have a line in jack for a MP3 player or satellite radio (I love my satellite radio and have been playing mostly this device, but some streaming too). I found a few other buttons on there but didn't play with them yet. This has great battery life, has a waterproof and dust-proof design; to be honest provides some serious bass while providing a decent amount of treble too. I'm always in search of good speakers, I love my music and I'm very particular about sound quality. This has great sound quality and lots of other redeeming features to make it a must try speaker. This has a wrap around effect, if placed in front of you, sounds like it is surrounding you - very cool. This might sound a bit odd, but the lights, while not in a party atmosphere, seem to provide a calming/soothing effect in particular because I suffer from a lack of light in winter time. The lights help me keep upbeat, while also flashing in rhythm with the beat of the music! Please, get the app, it is totally worth doing. You can change the sound properties of the speaker (Bass, treble, and midrange). You can also change the lights to solid, off, different flashes, etc. And you can connect this to other Sony party speakers via bluetooth, so they all sync up - says there is up to 100 of them that can be connected together. Lastly there is a party mode, which I probably won't use, but seems cool in that you can tap the speaker in different areas to get different effects. With Best Buy's generous return policy, you really should give this a try, and if you find it isn't for you, you can always return it. I'm sold.
