First off let me say this speaker sounds better than my Bose soundlink. And has a better battery and more features oh and it's totally waterproof. So all you need is a pool or a beach and you got a party with lights. It has two flashing strobe lights and a line light that out lines the top bottom and around the back side of this unit. The line light is a multi-colored flashing light. And both sync to the beat of your music. Giving you a sweet light show. At normal volume its saids 24 hour batty life. I'm going on about 3 different days of use and still 70% life left. This unit sounds good even at max volume. I'm extremely happy with this portable speaker and will be getting another to try out the party chain.

This product is totally over priced!! They sound really loud on display which was very deceiving!! But since I have had them I haven’t been able to get them to sound half as Loud as they sounded in the store. This Sony speaker sucks and should be against the law to be sold for such price. I would never another Sony product!!

The speaker works well enough. It connects well and has plenty of bass, I found that the mids and highs were very muddy. I gave it a big chance but I felt like it really didnt sound good enough to keep

This was good for a while, but it came to the point that I had to keep charging it more often than not. I had a warranty on it, so after several months, I took it back and traded for a different model.

Sound is great but poor construction. i purchased two of them and both began to have a rattle sound after a few months of use.

I love this speaker. The LED light effects are a really nice touch to an already sleek and compact speaker. It comfortably fits in my hand and, despite it’s small size, has incredible sound in a large room. If you like deep bases, you need to pick this speaker up. With the volume turned up, I could feel the base. Setup with the Sony Music Center app is simple and opens options for linking multiple speakers simultaneously. I’ve ordered a SRS-XB41 model speaker and may update this review once I’ve had the opportunity to test this feature out. This is, hands down, the best mini-speaker I own. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a big kick in a small package.

It has great features that i love, but it doesn't get quite loud enough for my taste. The battery does not last as long as I would like it to and when it starts to die it cuts the music volume by 75%.

I have tried several wireless speakers and this Sony bluetooth speaker is an amazing value. Most importantly, the speaker produces rich, deep sound that is clear and free of noise. The bass is excellent for a portable speaker and the highs are clear without having a harsh or "tinny" sound to it. The volume level surprised me with no loss of sound quality at louder volumes. Set up was stupid simple with the bluetooth connection, as was using the Sony Music Center app. The battery life is really good as well. Another feature I really like is the extra USB charging port to plug in devices for a battery boost. I am thrilled with this speaker!

Sony's device advertises a 24 hour battery but only in certain modes. Even with the way it says the most the battery lasted was 8 hours. It also is designed to charge other devices but you can't even play music during the charging process. For a great company, they bombed on this product!

It is a great speaker with the effects of lights. but the bad that the battery is very little ... according to the box are 24 hours and I lasted about 6 hours at half volume.

Sony SRS-XB31 EXTRA BASS Speaker. My first impressions while unboxing was, it looks good, feels solid, and is a bit on the heavy side. This is a good thing in a small speaker. Here’s another product that for some reason does not come with a charger. It comes with a charging cable that is 19” long. How a cable under 3 feet is even considered is beyond me. The speaker says EXTRA BASS. They mean it! This speaker outputs a small amount of treble, a mid range of mids, and tons of bass. Sony seems to enjoy removing, or reusing, buttons for functions. The buttons are, Power/Bluetooth/NFC connection, Volume up, Volume down, Play/Pause/speaker phone answer/skip forward/skip back, depending on how many times you press it, how fast, and for how long. Hidden behind a water sealed door is the charging port, a USB power out port, a 3mm input jack, and 3 buttons that tell you power level/change the lights, add speakers, and parity chain. There is also a reset button hole. I’m guessing if you take it to a party and chain it up with others you may need to reset it to get it back to normal. The charge seems to be holding up fine. At 3 hours of use it still reports fully charged. The speaker phone function did not work out well. The speaker sound level used for music was too low to be good for a phone call. This is a function I’m not sure many people would use anyways, doesn’t everyone look at their phone before answering a call? It has sound effects built in. The documentation shows people smacking it around to add their own sounds to the music. You have to hit it pretty hard, so I’m guessing using this function will drastically shorten the life of the speaker. It also has blinky lights, I guess this is a thing now. I’m starting to see blinky lights on computers as well. The app allows you to control much more of the speaker. You can set the tone control, light colors, change the input and so on. The speaker works fine without the app but having the app adds functionality. The speaker is ip67 water resistant. It weighs 1lb-15oz. It is really meant to be used outside buy the pool or at the beach. You can rinse it off if it gets sandy. We have used it at the pool and it was nice to be able to change the volume, skip songs, and not worry about getting wet fingers all over it. I ordered a white unit. I guess you could call it white, but it’s way more silver and grey than white. Overall it will be a nice addition to the pool area.

This speaker worked just as advertised, but I was not blown away with the sound quality. I wish it had deeper bass and depth, other than that, I loved it

First of all this sounds great which is the main reason for getting a speaker. I also love the look and feel of the product. The color is vibrant and has a very sturdy satisfying feeling when in the hand. The ability to link multiple devices to actually enjoy stereo sound is also a huge plus in my book. The flashing lights are fun but would not be worth it if the sounds wasn't as good as it is. I also like that I can plug in phone in to keep it going along with the tunes. Great value for what I am confident will provide a great addition to my next BBQ.

This Bluetooth speaker is okey. The sound is also okey also. I had a couple of things that would not hook up bluetooth.

Super easy to pair to my phone, easy to control w the buttons on the speaker, great range, great battery life, great volume. Built like a tank. I've no worries about it getting knocked around. Going to buy a bluetooth adapter for my PC to use the speaker with the PC as well. Lights are as bit cheesy for my tastes; others may like them just fine. As expected, bass-heavy [for a compact driver at least] but decent clarity given no tone controls. I like talk radio a lot and the speaker works just fine with that as well as music.

This is an ok speaker for use if 3-4 hours but then it dies down and sounds goes down pretty drastic .. not the best speaker

The battery lasts a long time and the lights are beautiful to look at. The lights aren't really that strong, but that's to be expected. The sound itself is pretty good, but I do notice that it does kinda start to muffle with high volumes. It's nothing too serious though, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem when listening at high volumes. The bass is pretty out there, and I think it's one of the best bluetooth speakers where you can actually hear the bass.

This speaker has fantastic sound and battery life, and is "fun". You can turn on/off lights, change the patterns, connect via Bluetooth, NFC or 2.5mm cable! The surface/cover is clothlike, yet still waterproof and washable. The controls are easy to operate from the speaker or the accompanying smartphone app! You can turn the lights on/off from the speaker, but you need the smartphone app to change the pattern or any of the sound characteristics. The battery life is great! We're actually using this as a soundbar for our main TV because the sound is so much better than the one we have which is a premium brand!

I love Sony speakers but this falls a little short on loudness of the speaker. Kinda expected some better sound

Loudnes is ok I just dont like the battery life very short and charging cord was only USB no outlet plug for it.
