Had issues with this speakers connectivity and I ended up exchanging it for a diffrent model.

This is the second one I’ve had in two years of this model. They both broke.

I love this speaker! The app is easy to use and allows you to change the illumination to any vibe you want! The volume and bass are great and it even has a party mode. When you use this you can tap the speaker while dancing or hanging out and it will make a cool sound. I always listen to my Spotify on this in my bedroom and the sounds encompasses the whole room!

We've seen various "bass boost," "bass enhancer," whatever over the past 30 years or so of portable devices. I think they forgot what "bass" meant for the past 20 or so of those years. This one advertises, "extra bass," and they're not kidding. It's sitting on my desk right now as I type this, and I can feel the bass through my forearms as it resonates off of the desk top, and it's not even particularly loud. And it does get loud. The most impressive thing about the bass sound is that it is present even at lower amplitudes. It's noticeable when you go into the app and disable the extra bass. I don't have to tolerate the hollow "tin can" sound that I've grown to ignore from my previously favorite portable bluetooth speakers, and those things were really hard to beat for sound range, amplitude, and durability. I have the original and the Mega size of those pringle-can-shaped speakers; this one seems like it's halfway between them in size but it's actually pretty close to the Mega one. It just sounds way better across the full range of musical frequencies. Judging by sound quality alone, this speaker is gorgeous. The ability to connect speakers together wirelessly is nice. I hope that the protocol that the use for stringing speakers together can be adopted by other manufacturers as well so that we can all play. Also I can't figure out what's the difference between speaker add function and wireless party chain. I wish this supported stereo, multi-room, and surround like the app seems to be able to do with other Sony speakers. It has some nice features I really didn't think to ask for • rubber feet so it can lay on its side without rolling around • clearly marked NFC connectivity target • a rubber panel covering buttons and connectors, and those connectors aren't all crowded together • a recessed reset button • USB charger output -- not fast charging, but it does have enough current for my phone or a tablet It has some things that, like, what were they thinking? • Disco lights? Well, at least this one (unlike my GTK XB60) the lights stay off when you turn them off. Okay, the lights can be fun sometimes. I just don't think, "hey you know what this needs? Flashing lights!" when shopping for portable speakers. • Party booster? Great. I can pound on my speaker and make percussion sounds. What could possibly go wrong? That feature enables itself sometimes. Some things annoyingly missing: • Illuminate the control buttons for goodness sake! • It has no grip or loop for a leash. • Track forward/back buttons! (when will someone come up with a thumbs-up, thumbs-down button for bluetooth devices!!!) Another thing I discovered is that the Android app has a firm grip on the speaker; I wasn't able to pair it to my laptop until I closed the app. Overall -- this has impressive sound and some great features. I recommend it!

These speakers have power. I tried hooking it up to a TV through the 3.5mm jack and it sounded like a legit soundbar. in terms of sound quality. I tried playing tunes with my boys at a large high school gym while playing ball, and it drowns the shouts and the grunts in the court. It has surprising sound for its size. The lights are a good addition too-- strobes and different colors make it a party partner. The battery life though is not that impressive. I followed charging procedures and it only lasted me 10 hours tops. I do play music on full volume though and this makes me appreciate the sound but 10 hours vs. the 24 hours label can be misleading. I haven't tried the waterproofing-- the most was while I was taking a shower-- no splashing or whatsoever. Overall it's good to have.

This portable Bluetooth speaker from Sony is awesome! Seriously, it's hard to believe this is just a single speaker. The spatial separation makes it sound like stereo without having to set up a second speaker. The Sony app that you download to your iOS device offers a wealth of options from controlling the built in LED lights to a wide range of audio options. All sounds are crisp as long as you keep the volume below 50%. That's the only bad thing about this speaker, go over 50% volume and the sound starts to muddle a bit and not sound as crisp. I'm extremely happy with this speaker!

Sony Bluetooth Speaker SRS-XB31 is one of the coolest looking speakers out there and it's going to be the perfect summer music item for those visits to the beach. I just want to say that this speaker lasts for an extremely long time. like I really did get the usage of 24 hours out of it (maybe about 22-23 hours.) and this combined with the portability of the XB31 you are going to have a great time. The design is nice and feels matte to the touch, You can indeed hold this with one hand and walk around with it. More so the design is also rugged so if you do happen to drop it will survive a few drops. Buttons at the top of the speaker which is easy to find and use so you don't have to use your phone or tablet to control music. The XB-31 is also Rust, Dust, and Waterproof completely (IP67 Rated.) even claims it can take a little sea water without getting rust.Comes with NFC and Bluetooth. There is a charging port on the back of the speaker which can charge up your phone. One of my favorite features about the speaker is the "party lights" that gives an awesome glow everytime it's in use with multiple colors. These can also sync up to each other with something called "Party Chain." I have used this mode personally with the Sony XB-90 and the lights and sounds all link up together. giving you a really wild sound system. The sound from the speaker is incredible to say the lease. It gets loud and punchy with bass. Bass mode does kick from this speaker to levels I never seen from a speaker of this size. There is also "Live Sound" mode which is a little disappointing because the differences that sound suppose to cover the room over a wider area with three dimensional sound seems minuscule at best. To me, it doesn't make that big of a difference especially if you have more then one Sony XB speaker connected. The Sony app again is its own worst enemy. There is a lot of features in the app which allows you to use DJ controls and such but the App (at least on Apple's App Store) is still awful and I don't think there are signs of Sony trying to improve it. The App has bugs, slow, and is very outdated. Until they improve the app I say skip it and only use it for colors on the speaker itself. I love the Sony XB line of speakers but this one improves way more than the rest because being totally Dust, Rust. and Waterproof. it lasts all day with battery and it loud with it being perfect for parties. My downside is that its Sony App is just botched but the product itself is great. I love party chain link and the colors are beautiful. Would get this for anyone who looking for speakers with fun attached to them.

The Bluetooth didn’t work. I do not know why can’t find on my phone. I am going to change it.

I got the BLUE Sony Bluetooth speaker and I LOVE it! It appears to be well-made, a pretty dark blue, and a bit heavier than I expected. It was super easy to setup and pair with my Samsung S8+ phone. I raised the volume quite high and the sound and clarity were amazing. I left my phone in my office and walked the speaker to the other side of the house (about 50+ feet) and the music blared from the speaker! No distortion. Great product. I read in directions that multiple speakers can be paired to create a large area of sound. Would be nice to try for a big party....

With so many portable speakers available on the market, I must say that I am impressed with this one. I have the complete silver design trimmed with the multi-color lights. Lets just say that the whole family enjoys this product. My teenagers love it because they can sit it in the center of the house and listen to their music (one actually uses it with her Xbox one for extra volume on certain games) and they love that the lights sync with the music. It reminds me of a sort of karaoke disco type of vibe. Bluetooth syncing is easy and battery life is great, the most that I have listened is about 6 hours. The speaker does voice that the battery is dying when charge is needed. There is a button (beneath the flap) on the product that you can press to see the battery life, along with the charging port. In the description, " Extra bass and three-dimensional sound create a superior listening experience, while the multicolored flashing lights and Party Booster make your gathering more fun. This Sony portable Bluetooth speaker is water-resistant and has a protective fabric cover for worry-free use outdoors," I must add that this is truly a fun and party type of speaker. Dim down the lights and have a dance party, no need for those super big dj speaker, because this little speaker will definitely fill a decent sized room. The weather is super cold here right now so I have not tried outdoors but I did see what it would sound like in a car; it sounds almost as good as my car stereo system. The sound filled the space and it wasn't distorted because of the bass in the song which is a huge plus for me. I will add to please beware of the flashing lights in the dark. They are somewhat bright but the colors change with the music, so its not constantly one color. It is light weight and there are little feet on the bottom to seat properly. The texture of the speaker makes the it easy to hold and move from room to room. It is a soft cloth/mesh combination and is very smooth and so far it is still clean with all of the hands that have been handling it over the past few days. Would I buy this product again? ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! Would I recommend to friends and family??? YES and some family members might getting for special occasions.

This is the coolest speaker I've ever used. The light show is amazing and the sound is awesome. You'll feel like a DJ at any party.

This speaker is the best portable speaker I've ever used. I was amazed that the lights actually synced perfectly with the music. The ease of changing the settings on the light configuration with the app made the experience that much better. My daughter really enjoys the Party Booster function. She really gets a kick out of tapping on the speaker for the drum and cowbell sounds. The battery life is outstanding and I can use it to charge my phone with the USB port on the back.

It sucks don't buy you'll be sorry and just take it back

I was surprised when first opening the box, to find how solid of a unit this is. Has a feel of quality and durability. The Sound is amazing! Very cool light choices, especially in a darker room. I installed the app and found no issues yet. Unlike other Bluetooth speakers, I like the press on power button, no need to press and hold. I have linked a few different devices and paired with no problems. So Far everything works ok.

I was given a free unit in exchange for an unbiased review. This Sony portable Bluetooth speaker is the speaker to get. In all honesty, I've had the opportunity to also test a really nice unit from a competitor that also includes the virtual assistant from a global search provider (!), but I'd have to say that this Sony unit really goes the distance. The sound quality is typical Sony so, as a matter of personal audio taste, if you enjoy Sony music reproduction, you'll love this speaker. All ranges are equally balanced out and there is not an issue filling a 500 square-foot-plus space with sound. The device effortlessly hooked up to my iPhone X via Bluetooth (there is a separate Sony app -- likely for multiple OS platforms -- that I did not use) and immediately was able to stream right to the speaker. While the outline of the speaker has a multi-colored LED and the "party lights" to the immediate left/right of the speaker did come on/flash appropriately, they don't really stick to the tempo of the music, but I think they're there for effect, not for keeping up with the beat. While I did not test this functionality, the device can apparently be chained together with other similar devices (not sure how similar) in order to create more of a stereophonic effect. So far, unless you're big on virtual assistants, this is the Bluetooth speaker to get.

This bluetooth speaker sounds amazing - much more bass than in most I've tried. If you are playing just audio clips only, this unit is hard to beat. Also if you like your speaker to have a mini light show while the music plays, this unit has a very nice display with banding around it that changes color and some flashing white lights as well. I found this unit to connect much easier than some others I've tested to whatever you have. This unit had a nice blue material covering it and it seemed to be of a higher quality than others I have tested. It looked much sharper than I was expecting. The unit is much larger than some speakers and is also heavier - but it does make up for this heft with superior sound. Plan on charging this for five hours to get a full charge. And now for the "but"... I continued to have problems using this to watch videos and to use as a speaker for this - only once did I "accidentally" get audio output to sync with the speaking - most times it was like watching a chinese movie with english being dubbed over the original chinese lip movement. I'm sure after practice I will be able to master another audio sync accident, but this performed much worse than cheaper units on sync.

This little speaker is my new favorite toy. My previous Bluetooth speaker would not stay connected beyond 20 feet. This speaker has about 50 feet of coverage and is loud and clear. Battery life on the speaker is also great.

I bought this speaker to use while kayaking and riding around on my Polaris Ranger. I wanted something that was waterproof, compact, and loud enough to hear over the motor of my Ranger. I checked out a few different Bluetooth speakers before deciding to purchase this one. Not only is it waterproof, but it floats as well. I threw it into a swimming pool one time to show a friend that it wouldn’t hurt it and it actually floated. I found that this is a huge advantage in the event I’m kayaking and it goes overboard. I would hate to loose it at the bottom of the river. Not only is it waterproof, but it’s shock and dust proof. I’ve gotten it dirty a few times and it hasn’t damaged the speaker. All I have to do is wash it off and it’s clean again. I tested the loudness of it while riding around on my ranger and to my surprise I was able to hear it easily. The lighting effects are nice as well. When listening to music by the pool at night or indoors where the lights can be seen it helps set the mood. There are multiple lighting effects that can be changed with the app. After purchasing the speaker I realized I use it for more than I intended too. It’s great for exercising, working out in the yard, and more. I’m very happy with this purchase!

WOW. I have owned it for a month or so. Keeps a charge forever. Great sound. I use it as my party radio in my golf cart cruising around the neighborhood. I am going to buy 3 or four more for sound around the backyard for all the parties we throw. Paia about $100 for mine. Price recently jumped. Wait til they go on sale
