Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the SRS-XB32 Portable Bluetooth Speaker's exceptional sound quality, impressive battery life, and powerful bass. Many also appreciate its ease of use, attractive lights, and convenient size. While some found the weight a bit substantial and expressed a preference for a different charging port, the positive feedback on sound and battery life outweighs these minor concerns. The speaker's waterproof design is also a frequently praised feature.

Great speaker with amazing sound and light features. Wish the lights didn’t suck up so much of the battery life but still good! Highly recommend! Use it during all my surgeries and everyone loves it! Doctors know they’ll have a great day when they hear this beast!

I think this is the best model for the traveling speaker. It can be charged va USB, has really great sound and is light enough for travel. The new price point puts it at the same level as the Chinese knockoff brands and outperforms any of the Oniz or tribit options on Amazon.

      Hi mikelectrick,
Great! We're glad you like your new XB32!!!
You are absolutely right, the XB32 is great for traveling. Thanks to its IP67 rating, you can take your speaker to the beach (salt water is no problem), the forest, the desert, or just to the back yard. All without having to worry if your speaker can handle it.

I compared all the speakers in the store (Sony, JBL, Bose) and this speaker was the best sound for the money. My only issue is the speaker doesn't stay charged very long and once it needs to be charged the volume turns down. Other than that, the speaker sounds great and has nice tones.

The sound quality from this relatively small unit is incredible. I highly recommend this, if for no other reason then to save money over some higher priced speakers that offer the same sound for almost triple the cost.

I’ve purchased several different Bluetooth speakers over the last couple years, but this is by far my favorite. The sound (especially the bass) is excellent and if you’re into speakers with LED lights, this is the one to get! The colors are awesome!

Bad for Nvidia Shield, LDAC breaks up

Wanted to have a good quality sounding secondary moveable speaker to use on demand, mostly late at night, for tv watching via my Nvidia Shield Pro 2019. Also to use paired to my laptop when i need better sound. LDAC is a must for Bluetooth, as it is far superior in quality than SBC, AptX to my ears. However, when paired on the Shield, it breaks up badly, drops out every several seconds, it is not usable. I tried to force it into a different codec via the Shields Dev settings, but the speaker would not accept it. I have 2 other Sony headphones, those I use for hours, with LDAC, on the same Shield, with zero issues. I also have Fiio BTR3 USB/BT DAC that supports LDAC (and all other codecs) and it worked fine to. This Sony speaker, played fine when paired to my Pixel 3, in LDAC mode. So, has to be some thing about the Shield it does not like. The LED lights on the thing were very annoying, but there was option to disable. Returned this speaker, and got a Anker SoundCore Motion+, which, despite it not supporting LDAC, has much better sound quality to it.

After buying multiple cheep blutooth speakers and having them fall apart I wanted to invest in a better sounding better made speaker. I heard this one in the store display. I was impressed! It was a little pricey though. Could have gotten a better deal on Amazon.

I suggest this speaker for a setting where music is not the main focus. The sound is full and covers my 15X12 kitchen just fine. Don’t expect it to go far into an open concept without the kitchen being LOUD. Great sound though. You need to download an app to turn it on and off which is a little annoying. Also, the BIG FEATURE is the light show, which is not why I bought it.

Speaker arrived undamaged. Right from the box it connected to my phone within minutes. Setup was easy peasy. Sounds great for such a small unit. Was able to play music through it even though my phone was in another part of the house.

The Sony XRS-XB32 is this year’s (2019) version of last years SRS-XB31 and other than the obvious cosmetic change and a new “Live Mode” button, the XB31 and XB32 are pretty much the same, including the sound and sadly, the same micro usb charging cord. Come on Sony, its 2019, why are you not using USB C on all your devices? The XB32 is a solid compact speaker with a quality build and feel. Last year’s cloth cover has been replaced this year with a rubberized plastic casing. There are rubber feet on the bottom of the speaker and like the XB31, you can stand the unit up on end, although, it the lack of the fabric cover makes it seem a little more solid on end. The speaker grill has the same fabric covering as last years. Pairing with all my devices was quick and the NFC paired with my phone simply by touching the phone to the speaker. The XB32, like the XB31 also has a line in jack which is perfect for when I want to listen to my iPod classic which doesn’t have Bluetooth. The volume is impressive. At full volume, it fills my house and sounds clean even at max level. This is an extra bass speaker and comes with the extra bass already activated. When you connect the Sony app, you find three sound presets, normal, extra bass and live. Unlike last year’s model, the XB32 has a live button on the top of the unit to enable the sound, which uses the extra bass and really enhances the sound stage and makes the mids stand out a bit more. The XB31 also has the live sound feature, it is only activated through the app. There are 3 preset sound profiles, standard, extra bass and live sound. There is also an equalizer to personalize the sound to your personal taste. I prefer the Live sound. Like many of Sony’s speakers, the XB32 has flashing light bar that rounds around the rim of the speaker. The lights are a nice touch and have many customizable possibilities with strobes, flashing and color. They are supposed to flash to the beat but so far, none of my Sony speakers that have them flash to the beat like I would have expected, rather they seem to just flash to their own beat. Its not horrible just a little peeve of mine. Generally, however, I keep the lights off to extend the battery life. There is a new app this year called Fiestable which is paired with the Sony Music Center and gives you additional options for the flashing lights and adds some motion sensitive controls for playback. The Music Center app is also used for setting up the party mode and wireless party chain modes which allow you to pair up to 100 speakers to play the same music. I was able to pair the XB31 and XB32 and can say this is a cool feature, especially if you are at an outside party, pool or beach. You can also pair two speakers to play either the same sound or have them play separate stereo channels. Creating the groups with the app was a little confusing and I understand other brands are easier to create groups with. Overall though, it’s a great feature and I will be using it quite a bit this summer. Continuing this year, the Party Booster feature allows you to tap the speaker in the front, sides, top and bottom to make different sounds, like a drum set or percussion. It’s a neat feature but not sure it will be used much. The harder you tap the unit the louder the sounds are. You have to tap it pretty hard to get any type of volume from it. Sounds great on paper but not sure about the execution. Perhaps if I were at a party with the 99 other speakers chained together it would be really cool. Battery life is rated at 24 hours without the lights. I’ve been using the XB31 for about a year and can say the battery life is the best of any of the speakers I’ve had and assume that since these units are almost identical, I expect to get the rated life from the XB32 as well. There is a USB port so you can charge your phone from the speaker. Its only 1 watt according to the specs. With many phones now using USB-C, I don’t know how much this option will be used. As mentioned earlier, the XB32 continues to use micro USB to charge it. We know Sony knows how to use USB-C but are very disappointed they didn’t use it on this model. The water proof part is really cool and definitely worth the price of admission. Just like last year, the XB32 took a soak in my hot tub, it floated back to the top and continued to work just fine. The fabric covering on the grill took a few minutes to dry completely and the plastic body wiped dry effortlessly. You can feel confident setting this pool side, boat or beach and not having to worry about it getting splashed, dunked or falling overboard. Overall, I am as impressed with the XB32 this year as I was with the XB31 last year. I like the look of the rubberized body over the cloth of last year, however, I believe this model will be much more susceptible to nicks, dings and scratches. I have always been a Sony fan and this speaker does not disappoint. I recommend it to anyone looking for decent sound in a totally water proof housing. I give it four stars only because of the lack of USB-C
