It is better than average, not quite 4 stars. It does everything as expected and is easy to connect to. It isn't very loud. It's decently loud, but not enough for any outdoor event. We had about 50 people gathered for a memorial and people needed to press together to hear the eulogy being given through zoom. The group could hear it, but had to press together. So, again, it is loud but not very loud. For the price, I would expect it to be louder.

It’s a nice little speaker I use in the Shower after taking it to the beach and being disappointed in the sound quality. For $150 I’m gonna say it’s more like a $89 value feel. The app also is not that great and does very little. I can only say I wish it was louder and had more of a Bass Sound.

The XB33 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout its volume range. This is something our music-loving customers appreciate most. That being said the SRSXB33 also gets very loud for its size and audio precision.
Download the Sony Music Center app, and you can actually fine-tune the sound of your XB33 to your liking. There is a built-in EQ that has 20 points of control for Bass, Midrange, and Treble. You can also change the speaker set up from Mono to Stereo to suit your needs.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different audio compression and transmission types.

Wanted a new JBL Flip but they were all sold out at our local store. The selection was lousy and this was the only equivalent on the shelf. It’s been a good replacement so far. Doesn’t get as loud as our old JBL(Maybe 90% as loud) but it has good tone and decent bass. I’m happy with it so far.

So great in all the settings ive put it in, at my desk in the office, in a larger warehouse, or at home, the volume range is perfect to fill any space. The bass is great but not overwhelming. Definitely am not an audiophile and very general consumer, but for me it is the best speaker for my needs. Havent dropped it or spilled on it yet so im curious how it will hold up over the years. I dod test out the range, i went through 3 walls, one of rhem being concrete, and about 100 feet away and it still sounded perfect, only started getting some interference when i added a storage trailer in the mix, but even then it still moatly worked.

Professional reviews are all over the map and most consumers will always say my purchase was great. Or was it? All ears are different which makes the selection even harder. So why did I choose Sony? The LDAC connection. I have been using this version of Bluetooth for many many years and besides the solid connection, I found the sound quality more to my liking. My Shure headphones use this as do my Sony Hi-RES players which connected instantaneously to the xb 33. Nice clarity with some oompf but not overpowering the mids as so many bass-heavy speakers do. The lights are fun but not my style. Battery life has been very good with fast recharging. We have enjoyed the clarity of the music presented by this Sony and quickly found a spot in our home for this portable waterproof speaker
