I needed to find a speaker that fit my needs, and this was it. However, I do wish that it was just a bit louder. I was trying to use the speaker in a big rig, and they produce quite a bit of road noise, so this little speaker had a lot to compensate for, but it did it's job Over all, the sound is full and clear, and I wasn't really motivated by the color bars, so I liked that you can turn them off. After a few uses, it did seem to last quite a long time.

We regret to hear about your experience with the SRSXB33. The SRSXB33 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout its volume range. This is something our music-loving customers appreciate most. That being said the SRSXB33 also gets very loud for its size and audio precision.
We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune your [model number] and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe). Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices.
You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

I use this speaker in my shop and it sounds great and has impressive battery life! The on board charging port could certainly be useful, but I don't use it myself. The sound produced by the speaker is really good as well with a very nice, clear sound through the range, without being overwhelming on bass or treble.
