I was disappointed that it don't get as loud as the older model (SRS-XB30). But there are a lot 9f featured that the SRS-XB30 does have that I wish did. It is now USB Type C for charging so you can charge it even on the go where the older version could only be charged at 110. It has an option to turn the light effects off if you want to save battery or are around people with epilepsy. It is also more stylish. And yes it is somewhat water proof. I do recommend this speaker.
