We are so sorry if the volume of our XB33 did not meet your expectations and that it needs to be returned. The XB33 was designed to be a very balanced speaker with a focus on both vocal clarity & the Extra Bass you know and love as a Sony customer.
If you haven't, to get the most out of your speaker, please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune the XB33 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker battery healthy & safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.
Despite the issue, we really appreciate our XB60 perfectly matches your expectations.
