The best just got better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had every generation of the CB3 line and I have loved them all. My fave has been the XB31 but that changed. The XB33 goes for a design refresh which I actually like a lot. This year the unit has a more of a flat top panel and face and has 2 bass radiators on the side. It looks good! It comes with an IP67 rating which is great for beach and pool use. The 6 stands for dust resistance and the 7 being water resistance. It not waterproof, its water-resistant. A lot of people say proof at this rating but it's not. It pairs to the Sony app like previous additions that lets you control the lighting effects, it also has a battery saving mode in the app which is called stamina mode. This allows for longer usage and a nice feature. The sound quality on this is a bigger jump this year from previous years I have found. The lows come through much more in this year's speaker and its a very dynamic sound. Your hip hop, edm and anything bass heavy sounds really good. Like most speakers though at full volume it does cut back some on the bass. Overall this is my new favorite speaker, Looks better than the previous gen, sounds better than the previous gen and just overall a good upgrade

For the battery issue: When fully charged, the speaker has an available operating time of about 24 hours when the volume level of the speaker is set to 36, lighting function is set to off, and the sound effect is set to STAMINA. About 14 hours when the volume is set to 35, the lighting function is set to on (factory default settings), and the sound effect is set to EXTRA BASS (factory default settings). And you will get about 4 hours of use when the volume level of the speaker is set to maximum (50), lighting function is set to on (factory default settings), and sound effect is set to EXTRA BASS (factory default settings).
The actual performance time may vary due to the volume, songs played, the surrounding temperature, and usage conditions.

We're sorry to hear the sound quality of this speaker did not meet your expectations. The XB33 was designed to be a very balanced speaker with a focus on both vocal clarity & the Extra Bass you know and love as a Sony customer.
If you haven't, to get the most out of your speaker, please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune your XB33 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker battery healthy & safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.
