If not yet, I recommend doing so. There you will find all sorts of tools like EQ to fine-tune your XB33 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is a built-in EQ that has 20 points of control for Bass, Midrange, and Treble. You can also change the speaker set up from Mono to Stereo to suit your needs. First when you lower volume it lowers it through your iPod thus leaving you with a flat sound. Bose does not do this so you don’t lose sound quality. Lights are just a gimmick. Plus no protection on either side to keep the dirt out. And it not loud at all. Also Sony went to a 10.4 or higher Bluetooth format making my old iPod with 4,500 songs on it useless

We were so disappointed, the sound quality was extremely lacking, barley any bass and the max volume was laughable. Bought a Megaboom 3 instead and it’s amazing.

Bought a new one, tested at home and it sounded just like the floor sample. Returned it inmediately and bought a JBL charge 4, much better!!

There is even an EQ in there. You may also try the STEREO PAIR in which 2 SRS-XB33 speakers are required. By connecting 2 speakers via BLUETOOTH connection, you can enjoy a more powerful sound. It would no charge anymore, luckily the staff at Best Buy made an exception for me and gave me a another one in exchange. Hopefully this is lasts. The sound is not the best, I had a JBL before this and it was better.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the two year older version of this speaker (XB31) and was just as happy with the new version as I was two years ago. Sony keeps finding ways to improve and the sound they deliver is consistently good. The biggest improvement I noticed was the battery life. I was so impressed by this speaker. I’ve had a number of other bluetooth speakers (different brands) that promise to be dust and waterproof. And they actually were, but they seriously lacked in sound. On the other hand, Sony hit all of the marks and then went even further, exceeding my expectations again. First off, the sound as one would want from any speaker is on point. You get a deep, rich sound that truly lets you enjoy all of the parts of any song. Next, although I haven't actually dunked this thing in water, it does seem ready to take on anything I could throw at it.

The speaker SOUNDS great and the bass is great, but overall I would call it "average and acceptable". My only gripe is that I expected "EXTRA BASS", its just a normal amount of bass. As for the sound quality, Sony does a great job with delivering quality sound that fills an entire room. The lights are an awesome feature that adds some spice to your home while listening. There are 2 apps you can use with the speaker that are SO MUCH FUN. There is a DJ app that lets your play around with your music including some fun DJ turntable scratched, drum beats, tambourines, DJ Sirens and so many other sounds. It really makes it fun to use with friends and family. The other app allows you to control the lights which is awesome too. Its limited but still a feature thats included and gives you some more control over how you can use the XB33. Overall, fun speaker, great sound, interactive and with NORMAL amounts of bass, not "extra"

These types of speakers need to be taken for what they're capable of and that is decent sound (not earth shattering) and portability. I have owned several portable speakers and this is by far the fullest sounding one I've owned but, also the largest. Great bass, not much in the mids and highs but an overall good sounding speaker. Recommend installing the Sony Music Center app before pairing with your phone. The app has lots of added features to enhance the speakers capabilities, including adjusting the lighting with several custom light modes or to turn it off completely. Waterproof, dustproof, shockproof and rustproof, what else can you ask for when you take it out and about. Also salt water resistant. Includes a USB-C cable for charging and a USB power port to charge a phone if needed. This is a very solid Bluetooth speaker and should satisfy most peoples needs.
