Customers are saying
Customers love the SRS-XB41 Portable Bluetooth Speaker's sound quality, long battery life, and impressive bass. Many also appreciate its ease of use, portability, and the fun lighting features. While some found the price a bit high and the weight noticeable, the positive feedback on sound and convenience outweighs these minor drawbacks. The speaker's water resistance is also a frequently praised feature.

Clunky wireless party chain feature
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it to add to my other Sony speaker to use the wireless party chain feature but I’ve had such a bad experience with it where it shuts off the chain from one another. And i almost bought more but will not do so after all.

Bring the party!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome speaker. I love how it floats with the speakers up for pool parties or a bath. The lights are a great touch. It's a little heavy but if you don't plan on carrying it around that's not bad. Party Mode is pretty much a novelty but kids like it. I also like that you can chain a couple of them together. I tried that out and filled the room with a sound. Live mode is good but I think it works best when used outside. I don't like that it is covered in fabric. This makes drying it off more difficult. Also when it's wet water gets into the line of lights and causes gaps. It fixes once the water is out of it.

Fun and functional
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to try this speaker out. I had been looking for something portable to use versus my old Bose speaker (which is small enough to be “portable” but not really intended for that). This speaker has decent sound, decent battery life, and easy to pair with various mobile phones/laptops/tablets. The LED light show is entertaining BUT if you like to have music play while you sleep at night you’ll definitely want to turn the feature off. Being waterproof and dust proof is also a great feature...especially with the Spring and Summer months encouraging you to use it around pools or the beach.

You haven't bought one yet?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can anyone make yet another wireless speaker that stands out from the rest? I think Sony has with SRSXB41. Even with all the choices and competition, Sony has found a way to once again set the standard. I opened the box to find minimal contents – speaker, handful of literature, charging cable. The first thing you notice about the speaker is the solid build quality. It has the feel of a premium device when handling it, and it seems to have a considerable amount of heft. There are control buttons on the top of the speaker, as well as buttons and ports on the back. Included in these is a full-sized USB port and… an audio port! Yep, you can go old-school and make a non-Bluetooth audio connection to the speaker. I absolutely love the fact that Sony added this to the device. It is a godsend for using just about anything as an audio source. Too many companies lose site of flexibility as benefit, but it seems Sony doesn’t fall into that category. Well, I was ready to connect it and listen to some tunes. Having the audio jack is fine, but I had my phone handy and just made a Bluetooth connection… BAM! Just like that! No seriously; that’s how fast it is to connect to this device. In all honesty, connecting to this thing is as easy as it gets. Heck, even my wife connected to it in seconds without a word from me. Sony should just give a class on this part of the user experience. Because of this, you can play music wirelessly within 2 minutes of opening the box. Good job Sony! Music starts – corners of your mouth go up. Big, full sound with rich mids and controlled, crisp highs, with fantastic bass. This thing really can fill a room. It’s pound for pound one of the best sound experiences out there – it can get loud. Add to that the mini light show and tap enabled DJ sound effects, and the SRSXB41 really serves as a mini party machine. With all that said, the music clarity is very good as well. There aren’t too many scenarios where this doesn’t get it done. Battery life is also excellent, lasting well over a week with moderate daily use. This is a no brainer, in my opinion. The only way this speaker doesn’t work for you, is if you need something very small or to fill a very large room – and even in that case, you can link multiple speakers. If you’re on the fence, get down and come on over – there’s a party going on over here!

Good Speaker
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speaker was cool and it was easy to setup but it just wasn't loud enough for my backyard and it didn't really last very long on battery so I returned for a JBL speaker.

Good but not great
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this coming from a JBL Xtreme and I miss the JBL. It was a much better speaker, providing a more impressive soundstage with cleaner bass and treble.

A party in a box!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An Awesome Portable Wireless BLUETOOTH® Speaker the SRS-XB41EXTRA BASS™️ really kicks! Used with the Sony Music Center and Fiestable apps you can entertain and link with 99 of your friends by creating a Wireless Party Chain. The Bass is very strong, the light show very cool (Line Light, Speaker Light and Flashing Strobe). The ability to control through tapping it is easy. Good looks, long play time, nice design, rugged weatherproof construction and strong sound make this a great party machine.

Great Sound Bold Look
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all this speaker sounds great. The base is clean and doesn't get lost in larger spaces. I also love that you can link these together in party mode. I have the smaller brother to this speaker and it was really nice to have them both work together. It is also set up so it is easy to carry with slightly recessed areas where the buttons are and the other side so this large calendar is easy to move around. Definitely recommend this to anyone that wants an all weather speaker.

Good Bluetooth Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is pretty good. Compact. Waterproof. Easy to connect. Flashing lights are awesome. This speaker is a little bit bigger than the model right below it(XB 31) but have plenty of similarities. Seems like the only difference is the live button that makes the music sound like you're at a concert. The bass is a little deeper too. Overall a really good speaker with great bluetooth range. Oh, and if you have more than one you can connect them and they both play sound from one source. This is an awesome feature. I would recommend this speaker. Probably one of the best on the market right now.

Let's get this party started
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently received the Sony XB41 Bluetooth speaker. Below are my thoughts. What I like: - Portable Bluetooth Speaker: Very lightweight, you can take it anywhere. Also, it's not bulky in size so you can easily slip it into a bag. - Nice Design: Premium looking speaker. NFC pairing is a nice feature. - Waterproof: You can take it to beach or pool without worrying. - Sony Music App: The app is easy to us and offers some decent functions. - Sound Quality: It's a Sony speaker so you know it's going to produce good sound. This speaker can easily fill a smaller room with sound and does a decent job with medium to larger size room and doesn't seem to distort at full blast.

Awesome Large Party Speaker - Lots of features!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've reviewed several portable (and not so portable) speakers from SONY available as part of the XB line - They are excellent as they combine a few key qualities people are looking for in their devices: - Fun colors - Durable/Weather-/Environment-proof - Good Sound Quality - Good Battery Life - Fun Features The XB41 is one of the larger of the speakers on offer today from SONY, and offers VERY clear high range and midrange sound... It has a deep bass as well, and caters to a certain crowd with its party lights and fun color choices. The speakers light up around the rim and across the front with internal LED chasing lights which brings a unique aestetic to this line. As I mentioned the speaker is good and loud. Easily filling a large room with sound, but even capable of good coverage outdoors. I did notice as the volume increases, some muddiness in the midrange is noticeable, but I was pretty close to the speaker and at these volumes, you likely wont be for optimum listening... I've reviewed several of the XB-series speakers and clarity is excellent for this price range - The XB41 is definitely a better speaker in the larger housing than the smaller offerings, and the built-in subwoofer is definitely contributing to that full, rich audio output. As always, the output is improved when connecting via an AUX cable via 3.5mm connector, but the bluetooth qualtiy is good. There's also a full-size USB-Type-A connector for connecting your smartphone's charging cable and the internal speaker battery doubles as a portable charger for your device - Unfortunately, this is a charging only connection, and AUX input is limited to 3.5MM connections if you seek a wired approach, I had the privilege of getting a few of these speakers to connect to each other in what SONY calls, "Party Mode". This allows the speakers to simulcast the same audio source to up to 100 speakers through SONY's included App for iOS and Android. I noticed this worked pretty well in my testing, but I couldn't figure out how to leverage the in-built NFC with my Android phone. The speakers tout an IP67 rating, resistant to sand and water, but in my real-world testing (using my 8- and 10-year-olds as test subjects, and letting them expose these speakers to the outdoors with no rules) I found that while they do resist damage from dirt and water, the cosmetic impacts are permanent, as the material they're made from wont clean easily if exposed to dirt or mud (its a woven, speaker-grille material). This doesn't mean the functionality is affected in any way, but other speakers from competitors head off their resistance to these elements with smarter grill designs that are as cleanable as they are resistant to damage. My only other complaint is that we're now in 2018 - When will we finally see technology part ways with that awful, claw-backed, MicroUSB port? Its scratchy, only fits in one way, and none of the phones in this house use it anymore! With the advent and proliferation of USB Type C as the standard, why arent SONY and other manufacturers updating ALL of this year's products to the new way of working? Having this speaker for the long-haul means I've got to keep and "old school" charger around just for these, when everything else I use (MacBook, PixelBook, Pixel phone, GoPro, Google Wifi, etc) all moved to USB C way back in early 2017... Short summary - Good device, old connector, GREAT audio quality, and a fun durable device nevertheless... Just dont get it muddy!

Sound quality is fair

Party over here
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony has done it again. Not only did they give an excellent sound with an awesome bass response but they turned this speaker into a mobile DJ booth. It gives a sick light show, that can be changed or turned off by the app. The software really boosts the fun it live mode. The music center app is a must. You can also sync up to 100 speakers through the app. And definitely, check out the fiestable app. I love this speaker.

JUST QUITS WHEN YOUR STILL READY
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately it's to late to take it back. The sound was just OK and I was enjoying it. After listening to it several times it started to get real quiet after a short time. I tried to reset it and it would last only for a few minutes and then quiet again. Sony doesn't understand that I like to listen to my music while I do things around the house for hours and this speaker does not perform. I have spent more time trying to reset it and continue only to have it shut down again and again. After tonight I have given up. This speaker absolutely does not do as advertised. I bought the XB7 because I was happy at first but the XB7 didn't do anything it advertised as it would so I took it back. I had to go to my Sony headphones to finish my business. After all of this and planning to buy the XB90 I have to say I have changed my mind on SONY. I just paid 200 for a bluetooth speaker that lasts a few minutes. I have a Sony A/v Amp that has lasted for quite a few years and I'm happy with. After the last purchases by Sony I will go else where. I will not buy their XB90 because of their previous failures.
