This thing is really nice, easy pairing, great Sony sound and experience. Also the red fabric color is a beautiful dark red. Tons of features, even though something Google or Alexa integration would have put it over the top. I also have 2 of the XB21 located in different spots of the house that are "daisy-chained" to this one for a full how experience.

About a month ago, I received the SONY SRS-XB31 from Best Buy. I was no stranger to wireless speakers, having previously purchased similar devices from a couple of high-end manufacturers. However, I was immediately smitten with the SONY SRS-XB31 model, and the features it offered. Given the damp climate I live in, combined with my tendency to leave things out on the deck, the "waterproof" feature was a real plus. The long battery life was of course a welcome feature. But, what really impressed me was the Wireless Party Chain and Speaker Add Function. The capability to listen to the music throughout the house and outdoors convinced me that I wanted to acquire additional units. So, just a few days ago, I received the SRS-X41 in the mail, which is now the crown jewel of my SONY wireless speaker collection. The sound is excellent, the fact that I can now listen to the SRS-XB31 in another room simultaneously? Let's just say that I'm a convert, and look forward to adding additional units for use throughout the house.

Love this speaker, as with all the XB speakers, this looks fantastic and goes a step further with the appearance as the 41 also has the drivers illuminated. Looks very very nice. The synchronization to the music from the lights is also extremely well implemented. Some really cool features of this speaker are: It has amazing battery life, and can even charge your phone via USB IP67 rated for dust and water resistance Live sound creates a 3d surround sound effect This can connect up to 100 other XB devices including the last generation. The speaker carries some good bass, on full volume the bass does get ramped back, but this thing does get loud. Sounds fantastic with bass heavy music and then with anything more acoustical the live sound really shows that off. Its extremely well built just like the other XB speakers, durability wont be a factor and its also not too heavy. i was surprised at the weight when i picked this up. This is the big brother of the Sony XB31 speaker and, other than being significantly bigger, appears to have all the same features and functions. How you plan to use the speaker may determine which one you get. The smaller one would be more portable if you actually want to carry it around with you--this larger model would get pretty heavy. However, if you want it for your house to use as a TV soundbar, for example, I think it would be great. It really can crank out the volume and sounds great. You can also wirelessly "party chain" multiple of these speakers together which would be nice if you want to hear the same output throughout your house. This would be an easy way to accomplish that. The flashing lights and the extra sounds you can produce by tapping on the speaker are probably more geared to the kids in the crowd. You can turn off both features. But, hey, if you're having a party you can turn those features back on and go crazy with it!

In a market where bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen, it is getting harder for these manufacturers to create something innovative. I believe that Sony has done that here with this speaker. This thing will do everything except wash the dishes, lol. The problem I see is that for some of the cooler features (like pairing up with other speakers in the vicinity) need to have a few units around and I don't see a group of people banding together to buy $250 speakers so they can connect to each other at a party. That being said, this is a great speaker worthy of 5 stars. The sound is not loud, but rich and powerful. I have the blue one which I think is a great color. The lights are really cool and add a nice effect. Even though I haven't tried it out, the speaker is waterproof. All in all, a great speaker.

The sound from this speaker was in a word "INCREDIBLE" The Bass response was unbelievable from such a smallish speaker. When compared to the big speaker systems in Home Theater Systems and such, It is just hard to believe it comes from this. The lights are a great addition when used in a party setting, But it comes at a cost in battery time available. If you use it without the lights it lasts much longer. It pairs with Bluetooth to connect to any sound source that has Bluetooth available. We were able to pair ours with the even smaller Sony - SRS-XB21 speakers and it was a breeze to connect them to ours. We had 3 speakers connected and it was JUST AWESOME! If you have the inclination to buy these you will not be disappointed. They are also water resistant but why would you want to get them wet anyways!

I got this speaker because it was the big brother of the SRS-XB31 I already had and I wanted to add a bit more sound and fun to the dock parties this summer. While I really like my '31, I'm in love with its big brother. Waterproof, loud and clear sound, plenty of bass for outdoor spaces, and the ability to string as many as I want together (well, up to 100...) to really fill out the space, plus all the other things I already liked about the smaller speaker. Definitely worth looking at if you want a speaker that's going to be near water and want to add a bit of fun with the lighting effects and bongo drum abilities (both more of novelties to me, but interesting nonetheless). Overall the speaker is great. App still needs a lot of work, but I rarely use it anyway once everything is set up.

With the Party Booster feature, the speaker can be used "like an instrument" and can detect tapping from five different directions thanks to the built-in accelerometer, which generates a sound and lighting reaction. If you're willing to buy multiple speakers, you can now connect up to 100 SRS-XB41/31/21 speakers together and create the aforementioned Wireless Party Chain. the Party Booster feature, Sony says the speaker can be used "like an instrument" and can detect tapping from five different directions thanks to the built-in accelerometer, which generates a sound and lighting reaction.

The sound on this speaker was great. When I wanted bass, it gave me bass and when I wanted the live sound, it made everything sound live. The setup was easy and the app support was good too.

Love this speaker! Saw it on sale and couldn't resist. Enjoy the glowing flashing lights and the ability to customize them. I was amazed at the sound and the bass coming from this little speaker. I use it in the bathroom during my showers where being water resistant comes in handy and at night to relax with the lights in Chill mode. The app is a little clunky but I wont ding the speaker for that. Overall i'm very happy with this speaker.

Fantastic speaker, great bluetooth connection. I love the bass this speaker provides as well, music sounds incredible. Add that to the nice red color - very cool. Highly recommended.

So let's get out of the way what the awesome is on this speaker. The LEDs and the customization are amazing. The fact that the speaker is water resistant is absolutely a plus. The audio customization through the app is absolutely awesome. Where my downfalls of the speaker come in through the fact that it feels that a lot of the perk of it being water resistant is taken away by the fact that the speaker just isn't that loud. I certainly wouldn't play it outside because the sound just wouldn't carry it far enough. For and indoors party or a casual speaker I would recommend it, but at that point I would just simply get speakers for inside like a sound bar or a stereo system. Besides that the audio quality is pretty crisp, but I just don't feel like enough justifies it outside of the LEDs.

The sound is crystal clear but it's not as loud as I want it.

I'm really impressed with the speaker great highs/mids and awesome bass and the lights make it more fun to listen music love the colors anyone trying to buy a speaker should give this one a try you won't be disappointed !!!

Cleanly produces sound with as much bass as my Klipsch 2.1 system, while being less than half the size of that system's sub alone. No idea what kind of black magic is at play here, but it sounds wonderful.

The sound quality is excellent and the flashing lights are fun and the waterproof feature will be great for the beach this summer.

I walked into Best Buy looking for a Bluetooth speaker for parties and taking to the beach. I had my mind on buying a Bose Soundlink color II. My second choice was a JBL. I listened to them all and this one was my favorite. None of the other ones impressed me like this one does. Really deep rich bass that can shake your floor a little and especially the table it’s sitting on. The mids and highs are really good too.

Great sound. Cool lights. Long lasting battery!!! Awesome speaker...
