Sony XB 41 & 43 Owner. Honest Summed Up Opinion

I'll be honest.. I have the XB41.. The bass is much better than the XB43. BUT, the sound clarity is much better on the XB43, Little heavier, but not disappointed on purchase. BTW, for those that have older Sony speakers (XB 41), the Sony app does not party link with newer speaker (XB 43). So be aware. I like at least a pair running in chain when I am out on the patio. Overall, you will not be disappointed, it is a good speaker. Don't pay full price, wait for the 159 or 149 deals.

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the SRS-BX43 wireless Sony speaker for myself , I love it ,the sound is great and has a powerful beat to it, not that I need that so much but the sound is clear even when the volume is low and it fills the whole room and then some. I love that the distance for connection is quite far , almost 100 ft which is impressive , so when I leave the room it doesn’t disconnect, the lights are a bonus but not necessary for me and I won’t be throwing any parties anytime soon to show off all its beauty and sound but I have bragged about it to my adult children lol , a little granny humor if you will . The only down side is this speaker is heavy, wish it had a handle, so I ordered one online , we’ll see how that goes . The battery lasts quite a good while too, I have only had to charge it once since I bought it , the other little speaker I have seemed to need to be charged every time I wanted to use it , so a good plus there. All in all , great speaker , it won’t disappoint the listening ear for great sound and quality, no regrets here on this purchase , I love it !

The Xtreme 2 has 10,000 mAh battery and is claimed to last up to 15 hours. The Sony is described to last up to 24 hours with a battery of 4,800 mAh battery, if I remember correctly. So I tested both speakers with each other. The JBL is louder at 50% volume compared to the Sony at 50%. But, when I put both speakers at 100% volume, I found the loudness is the same but the Sony has clearer sound quality. The bass is about the same as well. After using the Sony often, the battery still is at 100%. I'm happy I bought it. I love it. When you want to check the battery level, there is a button on the back for that, and when you push it, the speaker has a womens voice that says what the battery level is. The Sony does not have a carrying strap, But! It has the lights!! Using the Sony apps on your phone, you can change the color of the outter lights and also the effects of the four center lights. Very cool!

Well, after a lot of abuse at construction sites and many drops, it finally bit the dust. This model, the one I am reviewing, is heavy. It pushes the limit of a single-hand carry - a little bit more girth and it would not be possible. But the sound is a significant upgrade. It picks up a bluetooth signal from far away, and the battery life is yet unknown. I haven't found the limit yet. It is easy to turn off the lights if you, like me, prefer to go without the light show. As of early 2023, this is being marketed at $150 - and that is an absolute steal! I bought one for my dad as a late Christmas present, because it was such a good deal.

A lot of people comment on how good the bass sounds from it. I'd say the only negative thing is that it doesn't float. But besides that, it's definitely waterproof and the battery lasts for quite a long time (even longer if you shut the lights off on it).

Good volume level, and decent frequency range for a smaller portable unit. Battery life seems good, but admittedly I use mine plugged in most of the time. The light show is a nice added benefit that creates a fun visual mood to go with your jams.

This speaker produces amazing sound, especially for its size. Lots of connection options (Bluetooth or aux input). Definitely is loud enough to hear over my tools and even a ways into the yard. Bass is way better than expected, and the smart LED's is what really geeked me out. You can set it to detect the music and the LED's will flash and "dance" to the beat of the music. It has held up very well over the last 6 months in a less then clean garage, so it seem to be durable. Totally worth every penny.

Owned for 1 year when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this speaker for over a year as I'm writing this, and can happily say that this speaker has had no loss in sound quality or blemishes from usage over time. For such a small speaker, the bass really delivers in an indoor environment. Though the bass does drawback a tad when using it in the elements, that can be expected. The party control app that allows you to pair with other Sony speaker models is easy to use even when pairing to a friends speaker. Unfortunatly, this has me wanting to go purchase another one of these! Get two of these, put one in either corner of a room, and you'll see what I mean. My one complaint about the Party Center app is it does not 'zero' out both speakers and lock the volumes tp go up and down with both speakers. If you have one speaker really loud and other one at minimum volume prior to connecting, they do not sync up volumes. You'll find yourself 'zeroing-out' the speakers yourself. Once that is done, the volume button on the bluetooth device will change the volume on both speakers at equal sound levels. I purchased this at $250 in May of 2021, which at the time I thought it was a bit pricy, but the sound quality and the bass of this thing is just superior compared to the little brother (XB-33), and when I had them side by side in the Best Buy store I couldn't undersell myself and get the 33, The tweeters and the bass on the 43 were just too much to pass up on. Considering that its only $40 more than the XB33 nowadays, you do get your money's worth when comparing the two. At the time I am writing this, the speaker is listed for $178, but I have seen some color varients of this speaker go as low as $148 on Amazon, so if you aren't in a rush and want to save some money know that it'll likely fall back to that price around the holidays. Transportation of this speaker is pretty seemless, considering how light it is. I did go buy a hard-shell case for this considering how much I travel with it. It also helps since this speaker is a bit tough to pick up with one hand due to how wide it is. Lights on it are fairly accurate with the songs being played. Meaning that the lights will pulse to the beats of different songs. Isn't too great differentiating different tempos and responding the lighting queue accuretly on the spot, but eventually catches up to the mood of the song. Can't talk enough great things about this speaker. Recommended it to all my friends, and a few have purchased. Contemplating dropping $500 on the SRS XP700 since it has the ability to pair with this. But I don't recommend you pairing two speakers together in the same room, because you'll find youself wanting to get two or three of these Sony branded Party Center speakers. It's really an illness for wanting more sound!

Saw the xb43 on sale so grabbed it. What's good is, this sounds great in most rooms, take it outside and it's just ok. Because of it's size and weight, maybe I just expected it to be so much more than my xb33, it wasn't. It was louder yes, but not "wow" louder. And not just louder, I was hoping fuller as well, and it just wasn't. Also, this thing weighs a ton. You can double it as a big brick to use as a weapon. LOL. When I paired it with my xb33, the sound was awesome. That's why I will keep it, also I got it at a sale price of $149, which imo, is as much as anyone should pay. BTW, pairing the speakers was a super pain, not easy at all. Sony needs to make this process easier.

I added a second one and will add one or two more as they will connect all at the same time (up to 5 - I have a huge backyard). The speaker is very rugged. Very water resistant - I would say waterproof but Sony won’t. Heavy. Battery lasts a very long time. Sound is excellent. Not quite as loud as I had hoped but I’m sure my neighbors are happy. I have had multiple wireless speakers for my back yard and this is by far the best. My last speakers - which I still have and use - are Bose outdoor speakers which are not nearly as loud but have good sound quality. The Sony’s were a little more expensive than I wanted but very worth the price.
