We are not looking to blast the music at that time, but we also use it during the day sitting by the pool, It is the perfect sound quality for a smaller speaker and the Bluetooth functionality is terrific. it's not a $2000 system that blows you away, but it definitely serves the purpose and worth the money. It makes for a wonderful night by the fireplace

High Expectations - Almost Met

And when used outdoors, the loudness dissipates quickly with distances greater than 20 feet. I have never owned a Bluetooth speaker prior to this, so I have nothing to compare with. After reading the reviews of the SRS-XB43; I decided to pay a little more to get the larger but reasonably portable speaker (more is better – right?). But, I think that the designers’ effort to boost the base has sacrificed the total sound quality of the speaker. Still overall, a good sounding speaker … the sound is just not as great as I had expected. Battery life so far has been exceptional ... we will see as time goes by.

The XB43 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout its volume range. This is something our music-loving customers appreciate most. That being said the XB43 also gets very loud for its size and audio precision. We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune your XB43 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ. Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe). Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission. Thank you so much for choosing Sony! - Romeo
