Doesn't work when connected to Mac Mini

Checking the sound settings in system preferences to enable the correct sound output for your Bluetooth audio device should resolved the no sound issue when connected to a Mac computer. Just not loud enough - Disappointing

I couldn't wait to get my hands on the SRS-XB43 (I own the SRS-XB41), so naturally I thought this would be overall better. The sound quality is way better on the SRS-XB43. I get a full-bodied sound that crystal clear but IT IS JUST NOT LOUD ENOUGH! It gets, maybe, as loud as the SRS-XB31, which is very disappointing for a larger, more expensive unit. And yes, @Sony Geeks, I downloaded the apps and tweaked away but it is still disappointing. I had to return it - with a heavy heart, because I really wanted to keep it. But, I couldn't bring myself to keep it because of the volume issues. Then, maybe it's the one I had, but it played nice up to about half the volume, beyond halfway it was good also but, about the halfway mark the sound was muffled and the bass didn't sit well. I'd love to recommend it but I'm just not satisfied with the overall performance. Maybe I should try another one?

Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your XB43 speaker. While we're glad you appreciate the sound quality of the speaker, we regret to know that the unit had to be returned due to the low volume issues you've had with the unit.
The all new XB43 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout its volume range. This is why we added the 2 new tweeters and side firing passive radiators. Our goal was to make a better sounding (clearer) speaker than has been previously possible.
You will find the Xb43 max volume is slightly lower than the XB41 (100% XB43 is about 90% XB41), however it should sound cleaner and more well-rounded delivering the artists intent more accurately. This is something our customers demanded on the new model.
Also, if the battery level falls below 10% the speaker will go into protect mode limiting the volume and protecting its circuits from damage. You must then charge the battery and turn the speaker off and then on in order to go back to full volume.

Outstanding Portable Bluetooth Speaker

It's really a phenomenal speaker and I use it often. We have cookouts with family/friends and I use the Sony - SRS-XB43 to play music from my phone or tablet. The music is always loud and clear. There is a good amount of bass without distorting the sound. All notes are crystal clear. The Sony - SRS-XB43 works great indoors and outdoors. Thanks to the long battery life, you can use the speaker for an entire day without the need to charge it. You can use it on road trips, campouts, tailgate events, and more. It's light weight, compact, and durable so you can take it anywhere. It fits in a book bag, suitcase, or small bag with ease. A favorite feature for me is the built-in LED lighting. The colors change as the music plays, or you can get the color preference. The speaker is very easy to setup. Only takes 2 minutes (or less). You have the option to use the Sony App on your portable device, but it's not required. Also, it charges relatively quickly, considering the battery lasts for 24hrs of continuous use. I highly recommend the Sony - SRS-XB43 Portable Bluetooth Speaker. It sounds great and is fun to use.

We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine tune your XB43 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices.
You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

Great speaker but cant compare to the Sony XG500
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have bought both the Sony XB33 and XB43 and I can say that the XB43 is far superior when it comes down to sound quality. Don’t get me wrong , the XB33 it’s a great speaker and has deep bass for it’s smaller size but the XB43 is the champ here between the 2 when it comes to sound quality. The only downside of the XB43 is that is quite big and heavy and it might not be the best speaker to travel with unless you have a big backpack and can handle the extra weight. Another downside of this speaker is that it won’t float unlike the Sony XB33 . It would have also be nice if Sony would have added some straps to carry this big boy around since this is not a speaker you can easily carry around with just one hand. Here are my pros . Great Sound Quality Deep Bass Waterproof Cons. Does not float Heavy to carry around If you are looking for a decent speaker that is portable , has decent sound quality and you can use for travel , going to the beach , pool and floats and can handle most situations then you should get his smaller brother the Sony XB33 . But , if you are looking for a speaker who has amazing sound quality and you don’t care about the weight and portability , then this guy might be the choice for you . I’m actually considering selling this guy and just keeping the Sony XB33 and when I want to have amazing sound quality without caring about weight , then I might just get the SONY XG500 which is a boombox that is not only louder and offers great sound quality, but it has a handle and longer battery life as well.

Posted .Hi there, We are sorry to hear that the SRSXB43 did not meet all of your expectations. the sound may become low when the built-in battery is running low and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly, while the speaker is being powered by the built-in battery only. Also, when the rechargeable built-in battery is running low as a result of long-time use of the speaker at a loud volume even though the speaker was connected to an AC outlet by the AC adaptor (supplied).
If the sound becomes low while in use, turn off the speaker and charge the built-in battery sufficiently.

CHILL: For relaxing music
HOT: Lighting with warm-color flashes
COOL: Lighting with cool-color flashes
STROBE: Lighting with white flashes
Also, the sound may become low in the following cases.
