|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.REVIEW ------ This speaker is an excellent Bluetooth and a great alternative to the cheap Bluetooth speakers out there which do not put out a good deal of sound. The speaker is water proof as it is IP67 Rated which means it is dust proof and can withstand water up-to 1m deep for 30 mins. So it is a safe speaker for the pool. Not all speakers have light which will light up in tune with the music, this looks great in a dim-lit room or at night. Lets talk through the details BUILD ----- It is waterproof, dust proof, rustproof and shockproof. Pretty much indestructible. The fabric is made exclusively in Japan and it is easy to clean if it dust gets on it or gets wet. The fabric is infact water resistant too, So it may get wet but not soaked and easy to wipe off the water. So it is great for beach or pool and you can put it directly on the sand. The speaker can stand upright vertical or horizontal. Note that this is the largest of the XB series and weights in at 6.5LBS and as the size is bigger it does put out good amount of sound. It is a 2 way speaker system and it has a pair of tweeters for high frequencies and woofer for low to mid-range frequencies. It also has side passive radiators for enhancing the bass. USAGE ----- The Speaker can be paired using an NFC capable phone or you can use the Bluetooth feature of your phone. But before doing anything, i made sure the charge is 100% with the included AC adapter. Time required for full charge is around 5 hours after which the charging indicator turns off. If you need to check the charge % at any point, you can simply press the BATT button and the Battery % will be indicated by a voice command. The Battery life is 24 hours at the setting of volume at 31, lighting is off and sound effect is set to STAMINA. Putting this thing in extra bass mode will reduce the battery to around 14 hours and if the light is on. Note that this speaker does not need the extra bass function to put out the extra bass. The Speaker does put out extra bass anyway by default. If the battery is low, it gives out a voice command as well. Pairing with Bluetooth is easy, just power on and the Bluetooth light will be double flashing and connect to the speaker on the phone. Once the phone is paired, the Bluetooth light will remain lit. You can also use the NFC functionality to easily pair it, make sure Bluetooth is also set to on on your phone. MUSIC & PHONE CALLS ------------------- Since the size of the speaker is big and with the dedicated Tweeter and woofer, the sound the speaker puts out is excellent. I do have a Harman Kardon Invoke which i bought as refurbish, this speaker blows it out of the water. Although this one cost more than the Invoke, i think it is well worth the price for the sound quality. There are couple of apps you can install for using with this speaker. Sony Music Center - Which helps you in pairing and setting the equalizer settings. It also shows you the battery % and you can also change settings like STAMINA, X BASS etc. Fiestable- This is a fun app used for controlling the light hue or play optional drums along side the music. I do not have another Sony speaker to test the party connect. This is a feature which you can use to connect multiple speakers and have the music and light sync up among these devices. PROS ------ 1. Excellent Music Quality 2. Easy Pairing and Usage 3. All day battery life 4. ability to connect multiple speakers 5. Waterproof, Rustproof, Dust-proof and Shockproof! 6. Light modes! CONS --- 1. Heavy Overall i think this speaker is a great buy!
