The rechargeable built-in battery may be empty or running low. Connect the speaker to an AC outlet with the supplied AC adaptor for battery charging.
Depending on the type or specifications of a commercially available USB AC adaptor, if you use the speaker at a loud volume, the remaining power of the rechargeable built-in battery may decrease or the speaker may turn off even while the speaker is connected to an AC outlet by the USB AC adaptor. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. If such a case occurs, turn off the speaker and let the battery fully charge itself before you use the speaker.
The auto power off (Auto Standby) function may have activated. After about 15 minutes in certain circumstances, such as when the volume of the audio input is low, the power will automatically turn off. Raise the volume of the connected device for use, or set the auto power function to off.

I haven't really tested the battery yet but soon as you pick this speaker up you can feel the weight and quality.

The speaker has been tested to and continues to block dust after stirring for 8 hours in a testing device which contains dust particles that are up to 75 μm in diameter. |Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The SRS-XB43 was easy to set up, 30 seconds after taking it out of the box it was playing music thanks to NFC. The sound quality on this speaker quite nice -- music sounds great, truly has extra bass, the sound is not 'tinny' like a prior Sony Bluetooth speaker had been, which restored my faith in the Sony brand of speakers. The lighting effect were pretty cool both on sides (color) and the speakers (white). The music center app detected the speaker right away, no re-pairing of bluetooth was required, at least on my Android phone. The battery life I'm sure varies depending on things like volume and light usage, but even getting close to 24 hours means I can charge it once and use it all day without thinking about the charge. As per it being waterproof, I am sitting here in my bathing suit, but I'm not inclined to throw the speaker in the pool for no particular reason. I can safely say this speaker is worth the purchase, we've been enjoying it in our back yard for a couple hours already.

Some complain about bass…..it’s a portable Bluetooth speaker people! Sound is better than my old Bose Soundlink. While we're glad you like the amazing built quality and lighting feature, we're sorry to hear you had an issue with the lack of volume or power of this speaker. The XB43 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout its volume range. This is something our music loving customers appreciate most. That being said the XB43 also gets very loud for its size and audio precision.
We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine tune your XB43 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices.
You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.
