This is something our music loving customers appreciate most. That being said the XB43 also gets very loud for its size and audio precision.
We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine tune your XB43 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices.
You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

We regret to hear that the speaker was already returned because the volume and sound quality didn't perform to your standards. It is recommended to use the speaker with a sufficient battery charge and keep the software up-to-date (through the Sony Music Center app) for optimum performance.
The SRSXB43 features 3 different sound effects which can be adjusted through the buttons of the speaker. This function is also available on the Sony Music Center app. Additionally, you can use the app's equalizer function to tailor-fit the sound quality to your needs. These steps might have changed your experience with the speaker.
