BATTERY LIFE SETTINGS
Approx. 24 hours (STAMINA mode/The lighting function is set to off/Volume at 31)
Approx. 14 hours (EXTRA BASS on/The lighting function is set to on/Volume at 30)
That being said, just like any other battery-operated speaker, the actual performance time may vary due to the volume, songs played, the surrounding temperature, and usage conditions.

We regret to hear about your experience with the XB43. The XB43 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout it's volume range. This is something our music loving customers appreciate most. That being said the XB43 also gets very loud for it's size and audio precision.
We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine tune your XB43 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices.
You may also find different devices will preform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

Posted .Hi Nick, We appreciate your feedback about not being able to connect to older models. We really wanted to knock the XB43 out of the park, and upgraded the Bluetooth chip set in the new models for a better and more powerful connection than ever. We do understand that is a challenge to customer who have older models, and apologize for the inconvenience. The XB43 still has a Party Connect function that is capable of connecting to these compatible models: SRS-XB43, SRS-XB33, SRS-XB23. And you can pair it with up to 100 devices in total. IF you do pick up more, make sure you use the Sony Music Center App so you can control them properly. Thank you again for your feedback, and thank you for choosing Sony!
