Overall i'm very satisfied with Sony latest smart bluetooth speaker. Sound is very good and bass is there but it won't blow you away. I tested it with a mix of genre music from hip-hop and rock . The live feature in my opinion just made it louder but didn't get the impression of a wide stereo effect like being a concert. The mics were good in picking up my voice when it came to using Google Assistant commands or asking questions. Battey life is rated at 16hrs but that's with volume at 50% and the led lights turned off (moderate settings). Using it with volume around 70% and led lights on also connected to WiFi expect around 10-12hrs of battery life which is still good for a big size speaker. Led lights don't really bring much to show for and they seem to have been an after thought like a last minute adjustment. They have different light show but none standout for me. As for connectivity you do get bluetooth and WiFi connection needed for Google Assistant to work. I would of like to seen 3.5mm aux jack since on a crowded place Bluetooth connection can have problems connecting. I'm glad that Sony is using USB C for charging the speaker or phone. With USB C you don't have to carry the proprietary charger that Sony included. It is IP65 rated water-resistant and dustproof so if it rains no worries about damaging the speaker. Since it has a chromecast built in you can pair it with other chromecast enable speakers for a more louder sound and control other smart devices.

I bought this product thinking I was going to be happy but around 2 months of usage the battery of the speaker which claim to last for 15 hours doesn't last 1 hours. This too expensive to have to bring a power adapter everywhere I go. I gave a birthday present to my sister a $150 speaker, is less than double the price and it sounds louder but has no battery but it brings a mic which the sony doesn't and I belive it doesn't let you connect one ether. For the money you dont really get anything your phone cant do with this speaker. I belive an Alexa device works better and is less than 30 dollar this is just disappointing.

This speaker looks great and sounds excellent. It is a fully functioning Google Assistant with high quality sound. The lighting makes playing music a real party. The unit is the perfect size for travel and has a convenient carry handle. It is dust and water resistant so you can take your music party on the go. If you like steaming music and to have Google Assistant always handy, I highly recommend.

Great sounding speaker, Horrible Battery life. I could have a lemon, but Battery takes long to charge. I do use the lights, but with my other Sony Bluetooth, I get much much loner battery life, and its older than this one. Just be aware.

This Sony wireless speaker is great. Sounds good with punchy bass, is easy to set up and looks nice. Battery lasts a long time, water resistance is a plus too. The google voice option is awesome and works well. If you are looking for big sound in a small package with the convenience of portability then this one is for you!

First and foremost, the battery life on the Sony SRS-XB501G is amazing, especially for a speaker with so much power. The battery can last up to 16 hours. This is great for me, because when I am setting up for parties at my house, I can listen to my music while preparing, and have PLENTY of power left for music at the actual party. The fact that this speaker is WiFi connected is so great. In the past, I had strictly used Bluetooth speakers, meaning that my phone had to be used to control the music, that my phone had to remain near the speaker, and that calls and other notifications would interrupt the music. With the Sony SRS-XB501G, these are issues of the past. It maintains a direct WiFi connecting, meaning there are no notifications or other interruptions . I don't really care for the lights on the unit, but my daughter and her friends love them. I love that the Google Assistant is built-in. I have a gym in my garage, and when I am working out, I can easily control the music or podcasts I am listening to without interrupting my workout. This is a must-have speaker if you entertain at your house.

All functionalities and sound of this speakers are great however the only major drawback is that this model cannot sync up with other speakers. Called Sony and they also told this model doesn’t have that functionality. As portable speaker It is bulky, so one great attractive feature could be link them with other speaker to start getting stereo sound which it is not available for this model, so returned them.
