Sound quality is very clear. Swapping out my old sony reciever took me awhile,im not so good at it. Understanding the manual was not so easy for this old guy. At my age its the last one I will ever buy. Woks well with my 55 inch bravia xbr

Very nice equipment. Bought this to replaced old receiver.

One star is way too much. Bought the AN 1000 and Sony - SA -RS5 Wireless Rear Speakers because of wiring problems to the surrounds (very high ceiling in a large room). Initial setup took about 2 hours to work through the menus but got everything working. Went back to BB several weeks later and bought the wireless sub-woofer. In trying to get that to work my surrounds and center speaker STOPPED working. Nothing I could do the change that so I called Sony "customer service". Spent about 3 hours over 2 or so calls with "level 1" support and they couldn't get the surrounds nor the sub working. Elevated to "level 2 support" - spent several hours with them before it elevated to "level 2.5". After several phone calls over a number of hours (I figure I spent between 9 and 10 hours total on the phone with them). They said I needed to ship it out for diagnostic testing. Didn't like the idea because anything can happen in shipping but figured since they requested it I wouldn't have any problems. WRONG but I'll get to that in a minute. Unit checked fine and was shipped back to me just fine. 2.5 still couldn't get the stuff working. Said it must be the surrounds so I should send those out for a diagnostic. They sent me a shipping label. Sent them out. They came back about a week later. In the meantime, because I was still able to return the sub for a full refund I did so. Without the Bluetooth sub-woofer everything worked fine. Weird. And Sony never figured out why. I was just an accident I got it to work without giving up. BUT. One of the surrounds was damaged in shipping. I reported it to Luis in 2.5 whom I'd been working with. He surmised they might have to replace the pair instead of just the one. About 5 days later I got an email requesting photos of my TV??? I ignored it because the TV had nothing to do with it. A bit less than a week goes by and I heard nothing, so I called Sony. After a bit of a wait, they said to send them 2 photos - one of the entire speaker set up and a close up of the damage. I did so. The next day or the day after they sent me an email requesting photos of the package I shipped them in. Front, back, sides, bottom, packing materials inside. Of course, by now I'd thrown out the box, which was the original package I'd bought them in (I must say the packaging was very sturdy) but I could already see where this was going. I got a note the next day that without those photos there was nothing more they could do. Discussions with 1.0, 2.0 and 2.5 (could never get Luis back on the line) yielded nothing so one last time I was sent up to Sony Customer Relations (terribly named). They said that the group that said they were done with me had final say. Sorry. I had spoken with the manager at our local Best Buy by about this and he asked me to bring in the speakers for a look\see which I did. BEST BUY, WITH NO RESPONSIBILY FOR THE DAMAGE WHATSOEVER, REPLACED THE PAIR FOR ME. Amazing for BB to do that! Way above there cll to duty. I would still like to add a subwoofer but am a bit nervous to do so unless it's hard-wired and someone else's product OTHER THAN SONY. I WILL NEVER IN MY LIFE BY ANOTHER SONY PRODUCT AND WILL RELATE THIS EXPERIENCE TO ANYONE WHO'LL LISTEN! (Told a friend all this, he laughed and said they did the same to him almost 10 yrs prior.) All this over a speaker they have made in China that, by my estimate costs Sony maybe $80 -$100. I shipped the speaks at their request, with their label to the facility they used for diagnostics, in the original packing and this is what I got. What would have happened if the receiver had been damaged. Last note. At the end of all this I was able to inspect an original Sony carton because of BB’s replacement. Very heavy material. Looked to be almost impossible to puncture. Maybe someone dropped it or some other way did the damage, not the shipper? And BTW, I had asked Sony for some proof they received it damaged because who could say it could only have been damaged going to them instead of coming back? Crickets. They could care less. BUYER BEWARE!

Love the sound. Makes a loud mechanical clang upon starting and shutting off.

This receiver sounds great! Big upgrade from my 14 yr old Harman Kardon. Big value at the sale price. Can’t wait to get the wireless surrounds to finish off my setup.

Made a huge difference. Replaced a Onkyo 757. So much more power than the Onkyo. My wife said it’s like being in a movie theater. Side note Best Buy is awesome I bought a fridge a Mac a stereo avr and they have been so helpful! It’s also on sale!

So far this Sony AV an1000 is great perfect with my klipsch speaker. Sounds very good

Three problems with this new unit. Popping/Snapping sound on switching between streaming channels or selections within channels -irritating. Could not get Zone 2 or 3 operational - ambiguous directions or were just too dumb to figure it out. Labels on the front are illegible without using a flashlight.

Liked it very much, but i am an onkyo guy. Can't go wrong with the sony.

Finally upgraded from my previous Sony receiver and what a difference. Highly recommend this receiver.

amazing features 4k in 120hz the image is crystal details are pure colors and contrast in high grade , 1080p with this device you can see amazing results. sound professional for klipsch speakers in fact recomended for reral cinema fans

Love it! Automatically connects the audio for all shows. Instead of reverting back to the tv speakers.

As far as sound and video quality goes, I find the unit sufficient for my needs and wants. If you're a stickler for details, you may want to read other reviews. My biggest gripe with this unit is when it gets stuck on the "PELASEWAIT" message. It turns on automatically, I find it stuck saying "PLEASEWAIT," and the only way to move forward is to physically unplug and replug. This, unfortunately, makes it a deal-breaker for me.

Great unit! Does everything I need and more! Caught it on sale for $599 and it was a no brainer! You won’t be disappointed!

Had a Sony several years ago and upgraded to a magnolia brand. That new receiver was good but not user friendly. Decided to jump back to this new Sony receiver. I'm completely satisfied and glad that I went back to Sony. Clearer Sound!!!

Sony have created a black magic receiver sounds coming from five speakers sound like that coming from 12 I love it

just in case you are wondring yes it can work with a sony Ht-A7000 soundbar and subwoofer and side speakers it make the sound quality ten times better and  immerses you in ways you wouldn’t believe possible

A primary plus is its good FM tuner circuit and the existence of an AM tuner! Many tuner-amps only allow FM. Sports fans appreciate AM. Use of a television as the tuner-amp's display (much like a computer monitor) is innovative and simple to use. Lastly the tuner-amp's eARC HDMI circuitry can be used for real 7.2 channel configurations. My ONLY complaint is being unable to listen to radio, enjoy a music CD, use a phonograph turntable or other audio source when watching television, except the television's audio. "Smart" electronics are a bore. Lastly, the price made it a good buy.
