Sound is clean, crystiline highs, good bass response. A very good mid-fi receiver. Recommended!

The STR-AN1000 uses standard remote codes, so it should be compatible with most universal remotes.

But thays becouse it can do alot of stuff,not your old receiver. Would be beter if paper came with product.
