    Sony receiver with an incomplete Best Buy installa

    The Sony receiver does not function properly. The zone 3 was not installed properly by the best but installer and does not function at all. Even though the Sony is supposed to have twice as many watts as the 10 year old Yamaha it replaced it has no volume comparatively and very poor sound quality. This may be due to the incomplete setup done by the Best Buy installer

    I’d give this zero stars if possible. Spent almost $1k on this piece of crap. Bought on 21 August 2024. It stopped working in January. Been on my other half for MONTHS to take care of it. Guess who didn’t take care of it. Finally decided to do it myself even though I know nothing about these things. Alas, the 1 year warranty expired 2 days ago.

    Did not work with my home entertainment system.

    This unit did not work for me. Not strong enough to power my 4 speaker surround sound system. Max volume not loud enough on some streaming channels and even Serius XM music through Dish. I was told by Sony that this is the maximum power I could get from this unit. Best Buy specialist suggested a Denon model.

    Not Sonos friendly

    I looked to add more hdmi ports to my home theater setup. Already committed to Sonos and love their ecosystem i saw that this receiver said "works with sonos". This is factually accurate but not as you would rhink. My TV was connected via eArc to the receiver and there was no arc passthrough to send on through to my Sonos Arc soundbar and put to the sub and two sonos ones. This led me to return the item. Even the rep said oh yeah that will work because of the statement on the box. I get receivers arent normally meant to be used in this manner but theirbclaim is misleading. Why would I use my phone to connect to the receiver through my network andbthen push sound out to my soundbar. I couldbsimply use the Sonos app to send audio to any sonos room or device directly. Theor claim os pointless and i cant in good conscience recommend this product for this reason alone. Other rhan that ot would seem it os overloaded with cool features but unless you have the sony speaker ecosystem i would avoid this devoce.

    I don't like how it sounds. It makes a constant hissing sound. It doesn't work well with my Sony TV (one of the reasons why I bought this receiver is because I thought it would work well with Sony brand TVs). Because of Best Buy's stupid 14 day return policy I can't return this receiver. I will never shop at Best Buy again!

    Unit did NOT work when installed. Had to return. Technician charged $200 to determine unit was INOPERABLE. Upon return to Best Buy, they wouldn’t refund. THEY ISSUED A CREDIT ONLY. BEST BUY NOW WORST BUY.

    This review is not for the receiver as i could not even test it out. Ordered as an open box excellent item from best buy . When i received the box from ups i heard rattling. Upon opening i discovered the receiver was put in the box upside down with all accessories and a thin piece of styrofoam tossed on top. The antennas were broken off and random pieces of plastic were floating around. This looked like they had a toddler pack the receiver for shipping.

    Persistent Issues with Sony Receivers from Best Bu

    From the very beginning, the Sony receiver had noise in the speakers. I reached out to Sony support, and they told me I had to send it to New York for repair. The return period at Best Buy was only a month and I missed it. This is the second time I've bought a Sony receiver at Best Buy and both were defective.

    Just spent over eight hours trying to get this set up - including over twobhours with Soby tech support — and it is still not working. Evidebtly Sony TV’s don’t recognize video signals from Sony AV receivers because the signal might be pirated. And the apeaker calibration is wildly inconsistent and contradictory. Beyond ridiculous!

    Won't support streaming apps like YouTube

    My 3 year old Denon blew out. Replaced with this Sony. I have my PS5 and AppleTV connected to TV and then the receiver is connected to the receiver via ARC. I don't know why but even though Netflix, Disney+, and such work, the streamers (YouTube, Hulu, etc) don't have audio. Tried for about 4 hours with all kinds of resets and different cable configurations and signal configurations. Just not working. VERY disappointed. Going to exchange for a Denon tomorrow. If anyone is aware of this issue and how to fix I would be SO much appreciative if anyone could post something about it here.

    Poor Packaging, the Wifi Antenas were broken and no remote control. Customer service great help was "please contact Sony".

    No built in support for UPNP/DLNA, even though manual says otherwise. Turning the receiver on produces super loud click sound likely due to cheap relay.

    Better off getting the Denon AVR- S970

    Receiver had several issues out of the box. Returned it and upgraded to the Denon AVR-S970. No problems at all with the Denon and you can get it for the same price with the BB plus membership.

    ARC/ERAC port went out on me a little after a year and I paid 749 at that time Sony got me on this one Best Buy charge me 80$ to have it sent out to see if they could fix it they didn't

    Bad center channel

    I had high hopes for this, but I got one out of the box that was no good. Center channel did not work at all. Very frustrating to pull it all apart and return it for a pioneer elite

    I have owned my Sony since Nov 17, 2023 my unit makes loud thumping sound when it is turned on. I just lost the ability to use my hdmi because the unit is defective. I hoped it would have made it at least a year
