Popping/Snapping sound on switching between streaming channels or selections within channels -irritating. Could not get Zone 2 or 3 operational - ambiguous directions or were just too dumb to figure it out. Labels on the front are illegible without using a flashlight.

The 360 Reality Check That Didn't Quite Land

Despite knowing it might not meet all my needs, I hoped for a worthwhile upgrade. Unfortunately, it fell short. The sound, while passable, lacked the richness I expected, paling in comparison to my older Denon. But that wasn't the deal-breaker. Attempting to explore Sony's new 360 Reality Audio, I played "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse," initially impressed. However, upon returning to the Apple TV menu, chaos ensued. The audio lagged and emitted an unsettling airy noise reminiscent of blowing into a fist. Even worse, testing it on streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube was a flat-out disaster. The 360 Reality Audio sounded abysmal, making me appreciate the sound of silence. Switching back to DTS: X, relief washed over me as the audio returned to its former glory. Yet, the sluggish performance, delayed HDMI inputs, and the caveat of avoiding 360 Reality Audio left me unimpressed. In comparison, I believe Denon would offer a superior experience. With a heavy heart, I reluctantly grant the AN1000 three stars, acknowledging its mediocrity—only salvageable at a bargain price, provided you steer clear of 360 Reality Audio.
