Bought this to pair with my Sony Bravia x90L. The receiver sounds pretty good when watching movies, I am using a 5.0 setup in my living room. I'd give it 4 stars for movie watching. I didn't like the user interface, its ok but not very user friendly. Music listening wasn't that great, i wasn't using any EQ for movies or music. Movies sound good but in stereo mode the treble was very bright, too bright, and the bass was very flat. This can kind of be fixed by adjusting EQ, but its not convenient to have to adjust the EQ every time i want to switch between Stereo and Surround Sound modes. I know some people like the "Sony" sound, but its not for me. Also the "click" when turning on the amp is kind of loud. Also i couldnt figure out how to stop the amp turning on every time i turn on the TV, i dont need the amp for normal TV watching. Anyway long story short, i exchanged this for a Denon x1800h. I am much happier now. Movies sound great. Music is awesome in stereo. It doesn't turn on every time i turn my TV on unless i want it too. And it was virtually the same price. I thought i would get a Sony AVR to match my Bravia, but i should have known better considering i have a higher model Denon already in my home theater that i am very happy with also.

Excellent sound and sufficient inputs and outputs but switching difficulties and poor remote prevent a higher rating. The receiver appears well built and sets up easily.

This is my third unit, had to return two of them. They are very glitchy. The first two froze with no audio and nothing on the display screen. This one has a cracking (popping) sound coming from my speakers when scrolling through Netflix posters (using my Sony Tv's built-in app). Sometimes when I turn on my tv, the receiver display screen says "Please Wait". And that can last a few minutes before the receiver actually starts playing audio from TV. It's a shame that I'm having these problems because the receiver sounds great. Hopefully a Software Update will make this receiver more stable.

This replaced my 5.1 STR-DH590 Sony receiver. The sound quality is much cleaner and fuller than the previous amp with the same speakers. I added the front up firing Atmos height effect speakers too and the surround effect is so much more spatial. The auto calibration process was easy. It although like most I have used set my speakers to large format. This disables the subwoofer. Manually setting them to small and setting the crossover values took care of this error. Would recommend this AVR receiver to anyone!!

This is a great receiver: Plenty of inputs and various output options. 4K pass through and high power per channel are amazing. The price point is great as well.

So far this has been an excellent receiver. The set up was easy and sound is beautiful. I couldn't have asked for more.

PRO: Very nice AVR. Basic, simple but with good/excellent sound. Has the eARC and Media Box @ 4k/120 and 8k/60 which is what I wanted, while others are 4k/60. Great sale price. CON: A subwoofer is required to run the calibration process. System does not allow/provide optional speaker selection in the set-up process. I have a 5.0 system (no Sub). Considering subwoofer options. Recommendation: Depends on your current speaker set-up

best bang for the buck. puts out great sound. just added Klipsch Dolby Atomos height speakers. sounds great

We set this receiver up in our theater room and it conmected easily, was easy to wire, and is connected to 7 soeakers and 1 subwoofer.

I really like this receiver. It’s a lot better than the one I had before. I got it due to the Bluetooth capabilities and I was able to use it very easily and attach my phone to it. It also sounded much better coming out of my current speakers- you won’t be disappointed.

Works great. Plenty of ports for all my devices, and no issues with the audio or visual quality. Setup was a breeze.

I returned this. My speakers are 4 OHM and SONY made it sound like it was a real problem as it doesn't support 4 OHM speakers. Easy to set up and sounded great.

Love this receiver. 360-Sound feature is absolutely amazing. Easy to setup. Best receiver I’ve ever owned (and I’ve owned Yamaha, Onkyo, Denon and Harmon-Kardon over past 20 years). Go get it especially when it’s on sale for $599!

I replaced a Denon receiver with this Sony because I needed 2 HDMI outputs. I should have gotten this from the start because I'm using a Bravia TV and the way it's integrated is seamless. The sound quality is better too. I did have some restarting issues but it turns out the first one I got was defective. Exchanging it resolved all the issues I had (freezing, restarting).
