Great Receiver for Basic Use

Great priced stereo Reciever!

The included FM Tuner is a great bonus and it even comes with an antenna for it. The remote is simple to use as well and has extra features not on the Reciever itself. My only complaint is after reading the manual it says RDS for FM is not available for the american model, but that's a very minor complaint. Overall extremely good reciever for the price.

Bought for outdoor speakers

I bought this unit to use in my basement, which is, surprise, underground, it's a basement. Sony designer's, which I usually praise for their quality products, wants the buyer, to use a tiny combo of two wires for your FM radio reception. There is no AM option on this unit. There isn't a way to devise an alternative antenna to improve reception. You're stuck with it. Sony suggests moving the unit near a window. Not an option for me, maybe not for you either. I found it a bit insulting to be told where to place my purchase. A paying customer should be able to put their unit wherever they wish. I wish I could recommend this receiver, but Sony dropped the ball in this one. Somebody in design needed to rethink this before putting it into production.

Posted .Hi 1Mike2, Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your Sony STRDH190 receiver. While we're glad you like the ease of use of this unit, we regret to hear you're having an issue with the signal reception due to the unit was placed in your basement. You can't connect an external FM antenna to your A/V receiver, but you can improve the FM reception.
Adjust the position of the supplied FM wire antenna (aerial) to a place where the reception condition is good.
Place the antenna near a window.
Position the antenna as horizontally as possible.

Good, but better options

I bought both and did a head to head comparison on the same equipment and found that the Yamaha beat it out in almost everyway. Not a bad choice, but might as well save 20 bucks and buy the yamaha.
