Very Flat, No Tone Control

When I contacted Sony they said it didn't need tone controls. They were sadly mistaken. If my TV had RCA jacks instead of HDMI, I'd return it.

I returned mine twice, however, because the phono input did not work with my two turntables. Figures out the problem eventually. The instructions do not make it clear that the phono input works well only with MM cartridges and with turntables that have a phono/line switch. It did work with the regular inputs.

Posted .Hi VanFan, we're glad you like our product. We're sorry to hear that you had returned your SONY unit. This receiver equipped with Phono Equalizer amplifier to meet MM type PHONO cartridges. MM type cartridge used on turntable have a variation of audio output level. In case MM type cartridge output is small, you can use phono volume offset to increase the level.
Every component in the STR-DH190 has been designed for detail and clarity.
