    At high volume levels the receiver will cut power by at least 66% after one or two minutes. This component should be rated at 30 watts/channel.

      Press (power) to turn off the receiver.
      Press and hold (power) for 5 seconds.
      “CLEARING” appears on the display panel during initialization. When initialization is complete, “CLEARED ” appears on the display panel.

    Bad item and service at store

    With in 5 mins of use,it started to turn off and on for a while.then tried it,1 week later it lasted about 35 to 40 mins and did the same thing..so no good..and the service at best buy,when returning the item was super bad .so i wont be buying anything there anymore..

    Open box purchase. Said it was in excellent condition. It was scratched, had missing parts & DOA except a power LED would light for 10 seconds before powering down. What a joke & waste of my time. Never trust Best Buy again.

    This was semi-dead out of the box. The power would turn on, but the screen portion was dead and we couldn't get it to work. Upon further research, we discovered this happens to this receiver on occasion for a lot of people, so buy it at your own risk.

    garbage! Owned the receiver for 4 weeks (used only twice), won't turn on any more. If you are interested in blowing $190, this is however an excellent choice!

      Thank you for the review and we're sorry to hear what happened with your AV receiver. Please allow us to help you and turn this into a better experience. There might be a problem with the speaker connection. When matching speakers and Audio/Video (A/V) receivers, the ohm rating of the speaker should be equal to or greater than the ohm rating of the receiver to avoid a risk of hardware damage. Any speakers that feature bare wire connection will work to this receiver, as long as their impedances are from 6 to 16 ohms.

    There is no way to mount on the wall. In order to connect it with a Samsung TV had to get a computer professional to reprogram the sound bar. HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!

    Dead on arrival, buyer beware

    Wish I’d seen the other one star reviews that had this issue. Receiver simply did not turn on. Tried a factory reset, different outlets, nothing worked. Returned to Best Buy and will not be re-purchasing.

    The Sony product description alleges that an antenna is included - what it doesn't say is that the 'antenna' is a single tiny wire that plugs into a tiny square receptacle. No receptacle is provided for a real (i.e. coaxial) antenna. My old boombox gets better FM reception.

    Unit was DOA upon delivery. Made all the connections but the unit failed to turn on despite multiple attempts. I was hoping for so much more. Very disappointed. On the positive side, the return was easy.

    VERIFY Open Box before you leave store!

    Doesn't turn on, neither with the power button, nor with the remote Sony customer service is awful. It took me a long time to connect via chat. Couldn't get through via phone. Can't return or exchange, need to send for repair.

    Right side speakers no output.

    Right side speakers have no output to speakers when turned on. No output was immediate. There was not any paperwork with order number on box to make return process easy. Still trying to figure out how to return.

    I have used Sony hi fi equipment since the 1960s. This low-cost until shorted out within a couple months of use. A better choice would be a higher priced unit.

In the meantime, if you haven't yet, follow these steps to isolate this issue:

      • Plug your device into a working wall outlet, and not on a power strip or surge protector, to reduce the possibility of a short circuit.
      • Plug your device into a different wall outlet.
      • If the word PROTECTOR appear in alternating sequence on the display of your home audio device, or if the word PROTECT or PROTECTOR appears, the receiver will automatically turn off after a few seconds. Also, there may be an external speaker issue or connection issue that is triggering the protection circuit. For further troubleshooting, try following the steps from the link below to resolve this issue.

    This thing is garbage... quit working about 2 weeks after purchasing... it plays for 2 minutes than cuts off. Best Buy says it is no longer returnable.

    Second channel doesnt work

      Hi ErgoJunkie, We are sorry to hear about the issue you are having. Are you referring to the left and right channel of this receiver? If yes, and there is no sound or only a very low level of sound is heard from specific speakers, please follow these troubleshooting steps:

      -Connect a pair of headphones to the
      PHONES jack to verify that sound is
      output from the headphones. If only one
      channel is output from the headphones,
      the device may not be connected to the
      receiver correctly. Check that all of the
      cables are fully inserted into the jacks on
      both the receiver and the device.
      If both channels are output from the
      headphones, the speaker may not be
      connected to the receiver correctly.
      Check the connection of the speaker that
      is not outputting any sound.

      -Make sure you have connected to both
      the L and R jacks of an analog device, as
      analog devices require both L and R jack
      connections. Use a stereo audio cable
      (not supplied).

    Looks nice. Ad states it comes with remote. No remote with receiver. Sound quality suffers greatly likely due to the fact it needs the remote to adjust Bass Treble and balance. Pretty poor

      We do apologize for the inconvenience. The STRDH190 is only a 2-channel AV receiver with phono Inputs and Bluetooth. If you need more channels we recommend STRDH590, STRDH790, or STRDN1080.
