Needs brighter lights and a fm connection!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would have given 5,except 2 things.The lack of antenna connection is a joke,and even though you can dim the front lights,it doesn’t get bright enough to actually read unless there’s no lights on. Maybe Sony thinks that people who listen to stereos ,do so in a the dark to enhance the experience?If anything,lights should be brighter for us old people who still listen to stereo receivers

Can't have your cake and eat it...

I was going to use it when I played my drums but when you plug in the headphones, you don't get any sound through your speakers. I had to change it out for a Yamaha receiver that I had upstairs. You can have your cake and eat it with that one. So beware because they say nothing of the headphones in the description or in the manual except that #15 on the receiver front panel is a headphone jack. Not the first time that Sony has disappointed me. Price is good though.

I tried a bunch of FM antennas with poor results. I purchased this receiver primarily for streaming music from my IPad. It works very well and I no longer have to worry about weak radio signals and static.

Adjust the position of the supplied FM wire antenna (aerial) to a place where the reception condition is good.
Place the antenna near a window.
Position the antenna as horizontally as possible.

I bought this to use with my outdoor speakers on my deck. I setup the receiver in the garage and the deck is on the other side of the house. Once I hook up my phone I am able to adjust volume and control my music all from my phone when I'm on the deck and around the yard. Works great for everything I needed.

Sony Bass Eliminator
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2* because it worked and was available and Best Buy's return policy, but the sound quality is extremely poor so I returned it. Reviewers that claim power and good sound are either reviewing something else or have no clue about quality sound!!! Tone controls at full and no bass. I have an 85 watt per channel 1976 vintage amp that must be really be 850 watts based on the way the Sony 100 WPC amp sounds. I bought it because Sony is a solid, quality firm. Yeah it is not expensive but based on my 45 years of Hi Fidelity experience, this amp is closer to a 15 watt per channel amp good for some tiny book shelf speakers where one would NOT expect good bass. Seriously, this amp competes with a hi quality CLOCK RADIO at best. Sony, don't say sorry, please explain why you let this amp out with your name on it claiming 100 watts/Ch.

To ensure you're getting optimal audio performance with this unit, please try to follow the steps below:
Make sure the VOLUME or MASTER VOLUME knob of your AV Receiver is not set to VOL MIN.
Make sure headphones aren't connected to your receiver or input device.
Press the SPEAKERS button on your receiver and select a setting other than OFF SPEAKERS.
Try switching to a different input source.

Good, but not Yamaha good.

I will say that either product is going to perform well for the price. This amp does seem to off put more heat, which has some concern for faults down the road.

If you continuously use this receiver at a large volume, the cabinet temperature of the top, side and bottom rises considerably. To avoid burning yourself, do not touch the cabinet.

Perfect for my needs

I needed a basic receiver to use with my older stereo components, and this one fills my needs. The only thing I wish it had was AM capabilities, but I will manage without it.
