Great Product for Simple Needs

It has 4 L/R audio inputs, plus an additional phono input for turntables with an MM type cartridge. The unit has bare-wire connectors for two sets of speakers, A and B. The setup guide makes it clear that you MUST have speakers connected to the unit before applying power. Without speakers, the amplifier could fail. Permanently. I really like the built-in Bluetooth capability; I can stream music from my phone or computer without a hassle. This unit replaces a 20+ year-old Sony receiver that served me well for a long time. I expect this one to last at least as long.

The bluetooth works great..playing music off my phone. My 6 cd changer running from it is awesome. My old speakers(studio monitors) sound great and loud. Room for improvement thing (why 4 stars) is am/fm antenna could be upgraded to bring in better station strengths. But i did read that on reviews so/or/and not big deal to me. Sale price was a final decision to buy. Good quality. Very satisfied.

Great upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgrading from an old TEAC receiver from the 80’s that didn’t have a phono input and was scratched and had other issues. This Sony receiver was exactly what I needed. It is the perfect modern receiver with a phono input (because I’m a vinyl collector) and Bluetooth. The receiver also has a gain boost for the phono input. This gives the turntable more gain. Really nice feature. This is the perfect 2.0 receiver for Bluetooth and vinyl.

Happy I bought it at a good price. Connects to my cell phone easily with a touch of the button on remote. I have it hooked up to a powered subwoofer to watch movies.

Just what I needed

I just needed a small no frills receiver for a medium-sized room with two excellent speakers and a large CD collection. No home theatre or other luxuries. This SONY filled the bill perfectly; it has just enough power, is easy to operate and the sound it and the speakers provide is superb. I've bought many SONY electronic products in the past, and based on my experience with this receiver, will continue to do so.

Not a big fan how much it turns itself on when i play something from my phone, then i see thats its on a couple hours later but otherwise ive been really happy with the quality. It also works well with my older sony speakers

Extremely user friendly. Greaat to be able to listen to my out of area radio stations by using the Bluetooth feature! Wasn't expecting that benefit, but overjoyed to have it.

Great Unit for the Money

great for home studio!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i am a songwriter and needed a receiver for my home studio when my old one died.The first one i got was DOA and went to my local best buy and got a replacement sent to me in 3 days.The new one has worked great.Has a great sound and good power for my mastering needs.I work with alot of high quality wav and mp3 files at 48 khz-24 bit with a p.c. computer setup and the sound is clean and no noise background...definite buy!

I got it on sale but even at the list price of $150 it is a bargain. My last Sony receiver lasted over 20 years. My only complaint is the speaker connections are very tiny spring loaded connectors. It was very hard to connect my speakers and I had to get separate connectors

I use it to power my outside speakers. It works perfectly for what I need it for. I enjoy the BT feature. I also like that it is smaller than most receivers so it fits perfectly into any tv stand or any furniture that can house A/V components. I own 4 receivers and they are all Sony. They are good quality and stand the test of time.

Perfect if you don't need multi-channel output

Since it's not being used in a living room or with an entertainment center, 2-channel output was all that was needed. The sound quality is excellent through the Polk speakers already in place. The Bluetooth pairing was effortless. As soon as the receiver is turned on, it immediately syncs with her iPhone. And the quality is as good as the sound when playing CDs or tapes through the unit. Be aware that this receiver is FM only. But you can easily play AM stations through your Bluetooth phone. I'm a longtime fan of Sony equipment, and this is not my first Sony stereo receiver. This one is absolutely the right device for this application... However... A couple of caveats — Sony provides a single-wire antenna with a special plug at the receiver end. The receiver will accept the plug, but there is no way to connect a stand-alone or amplified FM antenna. That said, the FM receiver is so good that even with the single wire we can still get more than a dozen stations clearly. Another thing to consider: most of the functions are controlled by the remote, which works very well. Just be careful not to lose or damage the remote or you'll be out of luck.

It's Bluetooth ready but didn't know if distance from porch to pool deck was too far. Turns out I only needed 1, works great and sound is beautiful. Hooked up 2 speakers at pool and 2 speakers on patio with 1 receiver. Even the fm radio comes in clear and I get many Moore stations than I used to. Remote control does everything and easy to use.

I have a turntable and some nice speakers I had just repaired and was looking for that sweet vinyl sound. Nice Looking unit

Not sure about the FM antenna and plug in back of the unit. I wish there was a more common adapter and length of the antenna was longer. Worried about reception. Love the bluetooth feature for sound. I have trouble pairing too my bluetooth headphones. Not sure how

connection with your headphones:
• The BLUETOOTH device you attempted to
connect does not support the A2DP
profile, and cannot be connected with
the receiver.
• Press BLUETOOTH to connect to the last
connected BLUETOOTH device.
• Turn on the BLUETOOTH function of the
BLUETOOTH device.
• Establish a connection from the
BLUETOOTH device.
• The pairing registration information has
been erased. Perform the pairing
operation again.
• While connected to a BLUETOOTH device,
this receiver cannot be detected.
• Erase the pairing registration information
of the BLUETOOTH device on the
BLUETOOTH device and perform the
pairing operation again.
You can't connect an external FM antenna to your A/V receiver, but you can improve the FM reception.
Adjust the position of the supplied FM wire antenna (aerial) to a place where the reception condition is good.
Place the antenna near a window.
Position the antenna as horizontally as possible.
